conference Cold Fusion 2013 at university of Eindhoven with JP Biberian

In university of Eindhoven a conference on Colfusion with JP Biberian

    Cold Fusion 2013
    a review of scientific progress

    January 21st 16h00 -18h00
presentation & discussion, followed by drinks
    Technische Universiteit Eindhoven

Since the announcement by Pons & Fleischmann in 1989, the field of cold fusion research has been loaded with controversy. Twenty-four years later, many within the scientific community still consider cold fusion an impossible dream. Yet some scientists are convinced otherwise :
“Cold fusion is a scientific revolution of unimaginable impact”
    — Dr. Frank Gordon, former head of US SPAWAR group, Aug. 2012

A perfect opportunity for scientific enquiry…

The University of Eindhoven and the Dutch Association of Engineers KIVI NIRIA are pleased to host a colloquium by prof. Jean-Paul Biberian, a well-regarded cold fusion expert at the University of Marseille.

In about an hour, prof. Biberian will give an up-to-date overview of cold fusion research, focusing on experimental results obtained by research groups worldwide at institutions like MIT, the US Naval Research Laboratory, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and many more. He will outline and interpret the most important results, many of which have been published in international journals. With plenty of time allotted to discussion, this promises to be a thought-provoking session …
    About Jean-Paul Biberian
Former professor of physics at the University of Marseille, Dr. Jean-Paul Biberian is one of the few French scientist working on cold fusion phenomena since the 1990s. He is one of the executive committee members of the International Society of Condensed Matter Nuclear Science and editor-in-chief of its journal. In addition to his scientific contributions, Professor Biberian is the public face in France of cold fusion, and has authored many popular articles and films on the subject. His most recent contribution is a book, “la fusion dans tous ses états”, with a preface by dr. Stanley Pons.

    I was there...

    a deutch article:

    in googlish:
    Warm interest in cold fusion

In the spring of 1989 the world was equally captivated by cold fusion. After a few weeks and carloads criticized the claim of electro chemists Fleischmann and Pons that they had achieved nuclear fusion at room temperature, it was about the hype. Until today many scientists want absolutely not associated with cold fusion, said Professor Jean-Paul Biberian yesterday afternoon at the TU / e. Yet the search for these alleged potential energy is still continuing.

Jean-Paul Biberian is Emeritus Professor of Physics in Marseille. For twenty years he own research into cold fusion, or more cautious words: nuclear reactions at low temperature. Prof. Ton Backx, dean of the TU / e Department of Electrical Engineering and initiator of the colloquium Biberian, introduced the Frenchman as the man who perhaps best entered into the history and current state of affairs in this controversial field.

The suspicious attitude of most scientists as cold fusion can be explained Biberian. For two nuclei to fuse together-a reaction in which an untold amount of energy released, ie must first overcome almost insurmountable barrier overcome. That is only the nuclei at extremely high temperature together to collide, as in the regular "hot" fusion experiments involving the fusion physicists of the TU / e are involved.

"The image is that nuclear energy is trapped in a kind of vault with extremely thick walls. We are looking for the key to the vault door, while most scientists believe that there is no door in the vault is. "Without safe door can only brute force be provided with access to nuclear energy, hence the plans to use fusion reactor ITER, as it were a sun on Earth 'building which hot fusion to occur.

Despite the debacle of 1989 are currently including in the U.S., China, Japan, Russia and Italy, many experiments have been undertaken on inexplicably energy seems to be produced. Include the Japanese giants Mitsubishi and Toyota and the U.S. Department of Defense (but not energy!) Fund such research. Biberian explained in his story a number of these experiments in more detail.

In general, these heavy hydrogen (deuterium) locked in metal gratings with a very modest amount of energy released - less than one watt. However, some researchers claim that they know substantial amounts of energy to generate, but for commercial reasons they refuse to disclose their methods.

The questions after testifying before a benevolent curiosity in the audience than overt skepticism. The real skeptics were probably not taken the trouble to a story about cold fusion to come and listen.
