Open letter.Scilipoti to Director of "Republic"-scientific research in Italy
Lettera aperta dell'On.Scilipoti al Direttore di Repubblica - La ricerca scientifica in Italia
Mr Dominic Scilipoti (movement national responsibility), as a member of the Committee on the environment, Territory VIIIa and public works, back to attention from the Chronicle for an initiative addressed to the Editor-in-chief of "Republic", Ezio Mauro, on an issue raised by the article that appeared in the newspaper in question, on 5 June, signed by Elena Dusi. The article is titled "Stop those unnecessary studies. Italian scientists against cold fusion". We publish in full the text of the letter:
On. Dr. Dominic Scilipoti
(VIII) Committee on environment and public works
C. A. Dr. Ezio Mauro
Editor-in-chief "La Repubblica"
The sending this to expose some of my considerations in relation to the quality of that stated in the article published in his newspaper today on page 19, signed by Elena Dusi, entitled "Stop those unnecessary studies". Italian scientists against cold fusion in order to clarify the part of profile statements in support of his argument. I would like to point out here that the article content originates from a petition of scientists and researchers with the research on the piezonucleare inside the INRIM (National Institute of Metrological Research). Would be significant that a major newspaper like hers, give a chance to those who, like myself, is a supporter of the need to proceed to trial on the phenomenon of cold fusion, to express their position, given the fact that the argument I presented an interpellation in Parliament where the competent Minister wondered if deemed appropriate to adopt future initiatives, including legislation, to a quick and effective opening to this type of research. In Italy, unfortunately, for various reasons, were suspended searches by private and public bodies, without considering the fact that are at the forefront globally with a technology that, if verified, could quickly resolve all matters relating to the production of electricity at very low cost, without damage to the environment, allowing the Country to become exporter of electricity at very low cost. Even Mr Giarda in his reply was pragmatic, pointing out that once you make the results of studies concerning the MIUR would evaluate the possibility of funding research accordingly.
Entering into the merits of the article, the journalist Elena Dusi, titling, seems to be his theses of the signatories that require you to stop these searches. Note, however, that the petition in question is not a matter of merit rather than method: "the NRIM isn't the right place to do such things"!
The article seems, instead, marry a dissertation on: "these searches are not scientific and are not based on facts," position that the signatories they look good from support.
As regards the results of Professor Albert Cantu (President of INRIM), it seems rather artificial svalutarli for matters of principle, while it would be appropriate to make an experimental validation, bearing against the fact that the equipment used, basically a 200t press are available in thousands of small workshops in Italy. Finally, it is significant that no voice of complaint of alleged scam stood among those who attended the demonstration in Carpinteria in Turin (a hundred people including many professors of Physics of various Italian and foreign universities); This would have been the only argument capable of supporting a Holocaust denier thesis against the phenomenon in question.
These implications could easily lead, laymen, the devaluation of research on low-energy nuclear reactions (LENR in English acronym) with the result of manipulating information.
The motivation of the urgency of research on cold fusion finds its basis in large amount of experimental data from different workgroups in Italy and worldwide.
They are, in fact, many researchers in Italy for many years argued that these searches: Ing. Andrea Rossi, who along with Professor Sergio Focardi (Professor Emeritus at the University of Bologna) has introduced a system that seems to have been capable of providing a power of kilowatts for several hours; Professor Francis Piantelli Dell ' Università di Siena, that at a recent Conference ("10th International Workshop on Anomalies in Hydrogen Loaded Metals", Pontignano-Siena, 10-14 April 2012) said to get a nickel hydrogen reactor/90 Watts of power with thermal input of only 20 Watts electric; the working group directed by Antonella De Ninno, ENEA in technical report 41/RT2002/FUS, known as 41 Report, confirmed the existence of low-energy nuclear reactions, finding a correlation between helium production and excess heat. Dr. Francesco Celani INFN Frascati to Congress "World Sustainable Energy Conference 2012", organized by the ISEO (International Sustainable Energy Organization, NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS linked to the United Nations; Geneva, 10-14 January 2012) reported a particular experiment (lasted throughout 6 days with several power cycles) which measured an excess power density up to a value of 1.8 kW per gram of Nickel, worth more to the power density delivered into the core of traditional nuclear fission. Are also many researchers from abroad who claim the validity and reliability of the research on "low-energy nuclear reactions (LENR); These included: Professor Brian Ahern (DARPA-USA), who built a system capable of delivering 8 Watts of heat for several days; Professor Peter Hagelstein (MIT-Boston), which in a public demonstration showed the possibility of obtaining energy gain 14 times higher than the input voltage for several months; Professor Dennis Bushnell, Senior Executive of Langley Research Center (NASA) who stated that LENR is the most promising source of energy for the foreseeable future; Prof. George Miley at the University of Illinois, who recently published a work entitled: "A game-changing power source based on Low Energy Nuclear Reactions"; Professor Yoshiaki Arata-decorated by the Emperor of Japan, who in 2008 showed at Osaka University reactor operating with a few grams of Palladium Nanoparticles in an array of zirconium oxide; SPAWAR research laboratories of the U.S. Navy, who recently released a video titled eloquent: "Twenty-year History of Latex-Enabled Nuclear Reactions (LENR) Hiding in Plain Sight".
In addition, it is particularly interesting that the study of a new material (Copper-nickel alloy) nano-metric structure in one case and sub micrometer another, has been made independently and secretly, both from known researchers at the University of Osaka (Prof. Dr.-ing. Akito Takahashi) and Kobe (Prof. Akira Kitamura), within the framework of a joint project with the private Techonova research group (part of the Galaxy Toyota) by a research team led by Dr. Castro at laboratories in Frascati. The results from these two independent groups, shown and discussed publicly during the aforementioned X Workshop of Pontignano, were similar. In conclusion, remember that there are many thousands of patents and scientific publications, some in the most prestigious journals in physics, engineering and chemical industries internationally, which confirm the veracity of such phenomena.
In order to provide answers to the questions and doubts arising around the topic, we are organizing a Conference, aimed at the general public and policy makers and representatives of the media, which will take place at the beginning of July to the Chamber of Deputies.
