Someone quoted that patent of Piantelli,$marked as "to be granted".

the patent is decribing energy production apparatus based on micro/nanometric clusters of transition metal in hydrogen, heated,...

note that piantelli talk of H- ions as absorbed, not as H+ as you would expect.

just got an answer to someone who contacted rossi few month ago about that. No answers.

Him too suspect Rossi is infringing, but maybe also does he have innovations learned while developing the e-cat since 2011.

We have studied prof. Piantelli's patent and scientific announcements related, as well as other, very carefully.

As far as such methods, as prof. Piantelli, are based on thermal shocks or gas loading -that we find not effective to any industrial application, our decision was not to move towards any such or similar method as described in this patent application. On the other hand, our method announced in our ICCF17 for treatment of the Ni powder before its activation in the Hyperion has nothing to do with nano-particles in layers or any other similar method as non sufficient.

Any progress is welcomed as far as our civilization has to progress. It is not in our business philosophy to classify the world with the naive simplification of "customers or enemies", as far as such approaches have nothing to do with the cultural values we service.

We will congratulate prof. Piantelli or any other team if their efforts conclude to product related patents, as far as people and economies energy demands are huge for safe and ecological solutions.

I've been trying to read the actual patent description, not easy but I think that Piantelli's claim is about the preparation of the metal (he includes all transition mteals and alloys of them!!), and the manner of starting, controlling (of which he mentions a number of methods) and shutting down the reaction.
I'm no patent lawyer, and I really don't understand how much of the document is particular to his patent, but if all of it is I would think he has it pretty sewn up, although DGT thinks it won't affect them. (I hope they're right)
It's quite possible that Piantelli needs a secret sauce for it to actually work though! Is/was that Rossi's BIG MISTAKE?

It is not so easy to understand patents.
David french have made a nice articleabout how to write (thus to read) a patent.

Basically, I mostly use his section 10, that explain how Claims (and Claim 1) are the key to patent design...

In addition to the above, it should be also considered that the system related to Piantelli's application has never produced an amount of energy usable by a household Or a workshop, let alone a factory; all assumptions and claims in Focardi' s application have not found confirmation in a practical test, never has been produced any valuable amount of energy, since with nickel Piantelli made some watts, but without any reliability and repeatability, as weIl demonstrated by the test of Prof. Antonino Zichichi (published on "11 nuovo cimento" vol. 109 n. 12) . In particular, Piantelli asks for a patent to make nuclear reactions between not only Hand Ni, but also other metals she never dealt with.

Thus, to sum up, at least Piantelli' s amended method claim 1 and generator claim 14 are not inventive, as anticipated by prior Pascucci's application.

first it acknowledge that there have been production of few watt, yet not total control.

I did not hear that in the newspaper... because it is officially false. in fact it seems to be not innovative if you follow Cicogna.

Second is that to make a patent you have to have something that is absolutely reliable. I imagine that Wright brothers were denied to make a patent about motorized flight. they crashed too often.

Cicogna is paid by Ms Maddalena Pascucci, the wife of ROSSI who have owns/file Rossi patent. It seems a battle for patent, not on reality of fact.
