Here is my Python code for easy reading from the device.
Protocol is proprietary so it was necessary to write own implementation by reverse engineering.
You can read more data with small modifications.
This code can read current temperature from IR and connected thermocouple at the same time.
It can work out of the box on Linux based OS (I am using it with my Raspberry Pi computer).
But if you can change serial port, then it should work on nearly any operating system.

I believe that it will work with cheaper Voltcraft models too (with USB connection).
Data are outputted at 150ms period.
