    Thanks Alan Smith , it’s about the Google team allegedly failed attempt but it adds some interesting tidbits, they even mention Rossi.


    But I found the first of the comments from readers of particular interest, one commenter using the name Torben Nielsen claims to have seen “signs of cold fusion” during his university years:

    Try going from vacuum to medium pressure - 5 - 10 bar, with ultrasound focused cavitation, and H2O2 cleavage as target. There I saw signs of cold fusion 35 years ago at my exam project, which, however, had a different focus - ultrasonic cavitation for homogenizing milk.”

    A New Insight on Physical Phenomenology: A Review

    Abstract: After a brief digression on the current landscape of theoretical physics and on some openquestions pertaining to coherence with experimental results, still to be settled, it is shown that theproperties of the deformed Minkowski space lead to a plurality of potential physical phenomenathat should occur, provided that the resulting formalisms can be considered as useful models for thedescription of some aspects of physical reality. A list is given of available experimental evidence noteasy to be interpreted, at present, by means of the more established models, such as the standardmodel with its variants aimed at overcoming its descriptive limits; this evidence could be usefulto verify the predictions stemming from the properties of the deformed Minkowski space. The listincludes anomalies in the double-slit-like experiments, nuclear metamorphosis, torsional antennas, aswell as the physical effect of the “geometric vacuum” (as defined in analogy with quantum vacuum),in the absence of external electromagnetic field, when crossing critical thresholds of energy parametervalues, energy density in space and energy density in time. Concrete opportunities are suggestedfor an experimental exploration of phenomena, either already performed but still lacking a widelyaccepted explanation, or conceivable in the application of the approach here presented, but nottackled until now. A tentative list is given with reference to experimental infrastructures already inoperation, the performances of which can be expanded with limited additional resources.

    Research breakthrough shows Cold Fusion could be possible after all.. In a study published in EPJ D researchers led by Francisco Caruso at the Brazilian Center for Research in Physics have shown theoretically how this process would unfold within the strange world of 2D systems – which are literally as they sound.

    The principle of every catalysis is constraining bulk geometry of molecules into a surface, which decreases activation barrier of reaction. But we can go even further: from 2D into a 1D: compare my low-dimensional theory of cold fusion: what looks like theoretical impossibility during random 3D collisions within NIF or tocamak plasma (which would require extreme heat and high temperatures) may suddenly look quite feasible during collisions of atoms arranged into lines. Of course the spontaneous arrangement of atoms into lines looks statistically as impossible as spontaneous overcoming of Coulomb barrier - but this miracle still happens within each ordered metal lattice at low temperatures where these two extreme thermodynamic improbabilities cancel mutually - and cold fusion can still run there even at room temperature..     Study on waste heat measurement and composition change of Pd conductor after laser stimulation in H2 gas-loading system

    Abstract: This study mainly involves that palladium hydride with different gas-loading ratio is stimulated by YAG frequency doubling laser (λ =532nm) in H/Pd gas-loading system to produce excess heat.The range of hydrogen loading ratio of palladium hydride is 0 to 0.8.The results show that the waste heat is produced in the experiment stimulated by laser. When the hydrogen loading ratio in Pd is 0.3±0.01, the maximum waste heat produced by the system within 1 hour is about 120.91±0.47 J. Some new elements are produced on the surface of Pd samples, including Si, Al, Ca and some others, these elements were found in local locations by scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum analysis.This suggests that some reactions may have taken place in the experiment.

IMHO they tried to replicate part of Holmlid's results by simply shooting lasers to Pd hydrides (in reality thy quote many previous laser targetting Pd hydrides papers, and not Holmlid at all). The excess heat calculations are somewhat broad and with plenty of assumptions, the transmutation results might be more interesting in this regard as proof of something exotic going on.

    Note it is Pd with 1H , not as usual 2D . Great.

    About new elements identified, as it is gas loading, situation is much cleaner than with wet cells

    I don't think that was their plan. Holmlid's experiments don't involve just "shining" a laser on surfaces; since pulsed lasers are used with energies in the the tens to hundreds of milliJoule per 5 nanosecond pulse, the target material in those experiments is usually ablated away (i.e. vaporizes) with visible plasma formation, with results increasing non-linearly with laser pulse energy.

    A bit careless done. The SEM/EDS after Hydrogen loading is missing. We do not know whether/how much of the surface changes come from transported contamination.

    Also a quantitative measurement would be needed to spot down the transmutation reaction. Obviously some transmuted elements are not shown.

    Why the sun's atmosphere is hundreds of times hotter than its surface



    The visible surface of the sun, or the photosphere, is around 6,000°C. But a few thousand kilometers above it—a small distance when we consider the size of the sun—the solar atmosphere, also called the corona, is hundreds of times hotter, reaching a million degrees celsius or higher.


    This spike in temperature, despite the increased distance from the sun's main energy source, has been observed in most stars, and represents a fundamental puzzle that astrophysicists have mulled over for decades.


    In 1942, the Swedish scientist Hannes Alfvén proposed an explanation. He theorized that magnetized waves of plasma could carry huge amounts of energy along the sun's magnetic field from its interior to the corona, bypassing the photosphere before exploding with heat in the sun's upper atmosphere.


    The theory had been tentatively accepted—but we still needed proof, in the form of empirical observation, that these waves existed. Our recent study has finally achieved this, validating Alfvén's 80 year-old theory and taking us a step closer to harnessing this high-energy phenomenon here on Earth.

Think about it - the X-ray photon at the same time characterizes the temperature according to Wien's law -

    Take, for example, an X-ray photon - 6 • 10 ^ -9 m, then we get -

    T = 2.898 • 10-3 m • T ° / 6 • 10 ^ -9 m = 483000 ° K

    Why does a person not burn out from such a temperature? And it shouldn't burn ... So this photon is simply absorbed or undergoes the Compton effect ... That's all ... Thank you for your understanding!

  • we all know - I assume - that it isn't actually millions of degrees there - there is some sort of emission

    Mills makes the point that the CO absorption band at 4.7um cannot exist above 4000K

    He has a plausible mechanism and the emissions and spectra he makes in his lab.

    How does the H* mechanism account for these transitions and spectra?
