MFMP: 18 steps to LENR excess heat (BasE-Cat recipe)

    • Official Post

I am not a fan of secrets, so here is the e-mail to the donors:

During ICCF-17 in South Korea, shortly following the sad death of Dr. Martin Fleischmann, it became abundantly clear to a group of fresh attendees that the old approach to science, combined with the ostracisation of the great minds that had worked in the face of ridicule, was not delivering on the promise of of what we immediately called, “The New Fire”.

It also was clear that there was something to investigate and we were morally bound to do it.

We said that people would not believe, until they could experience it as if they were doing themselves and so the idea of Live Open Science was born. That was not enough, it had to be an effort that was free from commercial or government interests and that result and so it had to be conducted by the people, for the people. Our journey was made possible by the courage of Francesco Celani and we thank him profusely.

Your donations played a critical role in realising this vision, but you know that, what we know you will want to hear is what we have to share tomorrow.

We have been running and analysing an experiment live over the past Month. First for us in this experiment were:

    - Parkhomov Baking of Ni(correctly done)

    - Pre Hydrogenation of Ni

    - Proper baking out of cell under vacuum

    - Parkhomov pressure

    - Piantelli de-oxygenation

    - Piantelli 'loading' + proper dwell times

    - Piantelli capture analogue

    - Use of free Lithium

    - Use of calibrated NaI

    - Cycles attempting to create nano Ni distillates (inspired by “Bang!” discovery of dissolved Ni)

    - Long Run

You can see that there are steps in there that came about only because of activities that were made possible by donations. The critical visits to Piantelli and Parkhomov.

Around the beginning of the month we saw what appeared to be up to a COP of 1.2, not earth shattering, but sustained and robust and in line with both observations by others and the Lugano report when adjusted for correct emissivity. Over the next weeks we tried various bookend calibrations which supported this finding.

We have said that only two paths would satisfy us:

Statistically significant Isotopic or elemental shifts from Fuel to Ash
Statistically significant emissions commensurate, correlating, or anti correlating to excess heat
We are happy to tell you that we believe we have satisfied our condition 2, yet of course we’d like to replicate ourselves. Actually, though, it goes much further than that. What we will share is that the way in which we discovered it and the journey of analysis that makes it virtually impossible to say that Rossi does not have what he claims. It also shows that, whilst he may have been optimistic in how fast this would play out, he has been telling the truth, quite openly for years. Not only that, nature itself has been telling the same story and it told us too.

By the 16/02/2016 we had given up trying to destroy the *GlowStick* 5.2, part of a long lineage of []=[lexicon]Project Dog Bone[/lexicon]=[] experiments. After the reactor was turned off, Alan shared the remainder of the data files from the NaI scintillator kindly donated by a project follower called Stephen (Thankyou Stephen, really).

Project follower and open science legend, Ecco, first took a look at the data and found some anomalies - one SO striking that we thought there had been an equipment failure. We did not know the time that the anomalies occurred and had to wait until Alan woke to explain the time stamps so we could correlate it with the thermal and power data published live to HUGNet (Thankyou Ryan and Paul Hunt).

To our extreme surprise, the onset of excess heat followed the massive anomaly in emissions and the minor anomalies were during and only during excess heat.

This led us on a path of discovery, the sequence of which explains:

The massive count signal discovered by Francesco Celani during Rossi’s first public demo
How Rossi knew his reactor had started
How the E-Cat generates excess heat
    How it self sustains
    How it can scale easily
    That it is safe
It also showed us how replicators can know they have succeeded in triggering the New Fire and how to enhance the excess heat.

Subsequent to this, we found out Rossi had travelled the same design journey and had publicly shared it in the past.

The irony is - this was all being conducted live in the open, including discussions and graphing, whilst people were distracted with news of the end of the 1MW 1 year test. Same day…

In the past week we have been checking, cross checking to verify and this morning we cleared our last serious doubt, again live, with shared data. Because this is already in the open we want people to know so that they can start replicating based on what works, moreover, the insight will allow people to immediately start improving on our results.

Thank you for making this possible

You can be a part of making this happen

First off, if you have a few moments, please post about the project to your favourite social media channels by clicking on the links at the top of the page - this alone will help spread the word!Several of the facilitating team took unpaid time away from their other work and went to sizeable personal expense to witness the incredible research that is being widely ignored by the world. We were so inspired by the tireless efforts of the amazing minds working on the New Fire, that we felt there must be something we could do to make it happen.Since then, we have been working hard at our own expense to galvanise support to ensure that this technology is recognised by the wider world and we need your help to accelerate that endeavour. See our growing costs Please consider helping us, we will be running a social funding exercise in the near future in order to raise the bulk of the funds for the replication effort, in the meantime, we want to build great support materials to ensure that the MFMP is a success. If you want this as much as we do, please consider being a primary donor. Thanks in advanceThe Facilitators

  • I have emailed MFMP a set of questions requesting clarification on their protocol, particularly more exact temperatures and time durations for each step. Many of the steps MFMP listed are similar to what I used in replication attempts. However, I used Li only, not Li+ LiAlH, and the max cell temperature was 1100C.

  • If you do all these steps, you will 100% see excess heat? In what range?

I think the idea is that you should see some noticeable above background radioactivity when there is noticeable above calibration heat, and that they are correlated (if not exactly commensurate). These steps should do that. So excess heat is pretty much guaranteed, I guess.
But if excess heat does not happen, then neither will the higher radioactivity, because it is the radioactivity causing the heat (so it should be commensurate with heat).
I hope that is not too confusing. Perhaps the MFMP can say it more clearly...

  • It is great that MFMP have now found the recipe for LENR, in fact Andrea's recipe. Soon other replicators will also show that it works. Now science has no excuse anymore and replicate also and, more importantly, build a proper theory. That will speed up LENR enormously!
Great appreciation should be given to the very devoted MFMP team, who have now cleared the name of their inspirer: Martin Fleischmann. You gave the world the LENR recipe. It is now impossible to hide it for anyone or any entity. Thank you all!
Also we should not forget the great Andrea Rossi, who's work and relentless devotion to LENR opened the the nearly harmless route to nuclear energy.
Let us hope that humanity will use this new energy source with care and great respect!
    Regards, Gerard

  • May all with the means to do so, replicate and repeat! The outpouring of Rossi's E-Cats of whatever variety will be sell outs and the folks who successfully replicate will be co-heroes. It is great that MPMP has filled a gap, where doubters can congregate, be shown the errors of their ways, and come into this new world of near free energy production, independent of central control. Ever since Tesla was suppressed the world has suffered under a scheme of energy rationing... well that's about to end. It is great to be here at this momentous turning point, this new paradigm in human development.

  • Just two remarks: What MFMP claims to be a new, now public setup can be read in far more detail in the following public Paper (2013 http://www.jcfrs.org/file/jcf14-proceedings.pdf first paper ). Its highly recommend to read this, because it also explains the radiation, which will occur at certain points. Just take care!

This from MFMPs QuantumHeat site, seems to be the heart of the matter:

    Speculations (presuming no error):

Broad spectrum seems to rule out direct gamma emission from nuclear transition or decay.

High energy of the signal photons rules out known chemical or physical effects.

Transient nature of the effect suggests it is probably not a nuclear decay (but still could be) due to the short time of the emission.

Continuous nature of the spectrum suggests possible Bremsstrahlung radiation.

Bremsstrahlung normally requires a light particle hitting a heavy nucleus, so it probably is a high energy electron.

Bremsstrahlung normally has a sharp cutoff at the energy of the electron; but since this spectrum has no sharp cutoff, it must come from electrons with a statistical distribution of energy as might be seen with β- decay emission where the electron’s energy is randomly shared with a neutrino.

Very few isotopes decay with a β- emission of high enough energy to account for the high energy seen in the spectrum. However, one such isotope is 66Cu having a high β- emission energy of 2640 keV max and 1111 keV average with a half life of 5.12 minutes. 66Cu could potentially have come from 66Ni by β- emission with an energy of 227 keV max and 65 keV average with a half life of 54.6 hours (seems too long for this case).

Could a branch of Piantelli’s reaction that reportedly ejects MeV class protons sometimes eject MeV class electrons – perhaps with a continuous random exchange of energy between protons and electrons? The high energy electrons would not have been seen in his cloud chamber.

Celani measured a transient outburst of radiation at one of Rossi’s demonstrations while Rossi was starting his reactor in another room.

Rossi has stated that he incorporates thick lead shields around his reactor core to thermalise gammas emissions and that these are the source of the E-Cat heat.

How could neutron or poly-neutron fluxes be responsible for the other reports of gamma emission detected? Would Rossi’s lead stop a neutron flux?

  • more importantly, build a proper theory.

Theory is already here. Even in there forum you find it, public from 2012.

Suppose we may charge a test reactor with Ni/Mg2Ni grains, mixed LiH/MgH2 powder
and hydrogen gas. When we apply a pressure of 10 bars to the gas, its Gibbs energy
increases by 9kJ/mol=0.09eV/molecule at T=773K(kBT=0.067eV) [25] and results in
    a gain of dissolution into the Ni/Mg2Ni grains by a factor of exp(0.09 / 0.067) =
3.8. This implies the gain of fusion rate and hereby power released by a factor of 15.
Through this treatment we may convert the Ni/Mg2Ni grains substantially into the
hydride NiH/Mg2NiH4 grains in which some 10 percent of hydrogen atoms occupy O-sites
in the hydride grain crystals forming 3-pairs as seen in Fig.1. This leads to the trebly
coherent collapse of H-H bonds with the enhancement of 1.6 × 1044 at 773K recalling
    Eq.(28).
We begin a test experiment by pre-heating the reactor at room temperature. At first,
MgH2 molecules dissociate and form Mg2Ni or Mg2NiH4 molecules. The LiH molecules
dissociate through the physisorption and then chemisorption processes on the surface of
Ni/Mg2Ni grains more quick than hydrogen molecules due to their large dipole moment
    p(LiH)= 2.0 × 10−29(C · m) comparable with p(LiF)= 2.1 × 10−29(C · m) and weak bond
    strength D(Li-H)= 2.47(eV) compared to D(H-H)= 4.52(eV). The dissociated H atoms
are absorbed by the grains leaving Li+ ions and mobile s-electrons.
When the Li ions and mobile s-electrons moistens the hydride grains if nessecary under an activation by
corona discharge or electron or light irradiation, the coherent H-H fusion starts up with an
initial large enhancement and quickly heats up the hydride. This produces D-atoms in the
hydride together with lattice vacancies which are refilled by H-atoms under the presence of
the pressure H2 gas. The D-atoms diffuse with the diffusion coefficient of D0 ∼ 10−7 m2/s
at a high temperature towards the full clustering at O-sites [26, 27], hereby the trebly
coherent D-D fusion takes place resulting in the reaction energy released far larger than
the H-H fusion as seen in Section.11.

  • why is there lead in the last step of the recipe?

I believe the lead is what turns the emissions into extra heat...

  • For many years, I have been saying that excess heat is a poor test for LENR - a poor and insensitive indicator of LENR. What has been seen in this experiment (GS5.2), is a clear indication of LENR via a radiation signature. This was a high signal-to-noise spectrum and getting such a spectrum from a LENR process is exceedingly rare and of unique value to LENR science.

The spectrum has every indication of being Bremsstrahlung ("braking") radiation that occurs when a light particle is stopped very quicky by a heavy atom. The lighter the light particle and the heavier the heavy atom, the greater the Bremsstrahlung amplitude. The lightest particle would be the electron, and the heavy atoms could be Ni, Fe, Cr, Mo from the fuel and the SS capsule containing the fuel. BUT, the Bremsstrahlung spectrum has a sharp cutoff at the initial energy of the electron. The fact that this spectrum shows energy out to beyond 1MeV means that you must have MeV+ electron energies inside! This is a big deal. What LENR theories presently can account for MeV electrons? Actually, there appears to be energy out to over 1.4 MeV in the Bremsstrahlung. MeV protons will not create this spectrum (too heavy and low speed).

MeV+ energies for single entities (as are indicated here) are really only available from a nuclear process. There is no stretch of Mills or DDL theories (supra-chemical) that can account for >509keV photons/particles. There is presently no description in a [lexicon]hydroton theory[/lexicon] for MeV+ electron emission. It could fit in with Piantelli's theory with modification. It could fit in with Hagelstein's and Karabut's photon energy multiplication (but it would be extreme).

There are some skeptics that still believe that Ni-H LENR may not exist - even if they believe in Pd-D LENR. This is unmistakable proof that Ni-H LENR is happening.

Is this the holy grail experiment, ready to put in your hot water heater? No. But, with further corroboration and analysis, this will provide a sensitive means to indicate the onset of LENR in a class of Ni-H experiments and will become an important probe into the science behind the curtain. It will lead to replication and then to engineering.

It's seems like a bit of a stretch to call a continuum with the same profile as the background a signature. Particularly, since the rate is orders of magnitude too low to be commensurate with the claimed excess heat. Which means the origin must be from a separate reaction.

And it seems like a contradiction to call it a signature if it is exceedingly rare to get such a spectrum from a LENR process.

Of course if you can produce this result at will, then it will be possible to vary parameters and say something more definitive about its origin. It seems a little premature to call it proof though, until you've excluded electrical or other artifacts.

What about lead? The MFMP web site says "x/beta emissions thermalized in lead". If this means lead is available to thermalize beta emissions, then that would be where most of the bremsstrahlung would happen. But then you'd also see the characteristic X-ray from lead, and while that's present in the background spectrum, it's absent in the "signature" spectrum.

All true of course, but the MeV electrons do not come from the reactions that allegedly produce heat (unless there are more than one reaction), or the intensity would be much higher. So, whatever the source of this gamma ray excursion, it does not prove or even suggest that the alleged excess heat in the MFMP experiment has a nuclear source.

I agree. If you can produce these gammas at will, and show they are produced by the hydrogen-nickel reactions, they will represent an important probe to what is going on. It seems like a pretty important "if" though.
