I agree with Hank -having worked for both private industry and government your best protection is to get a basic recipe out there as soon as possible and as widely as possible.As long as only a few people know how to do this, governments can "declare" it controlled for national security, take all your notes and working copies, automatically making it a crime to discuss any details about your process. They have done it before and can do it again. Patents are no protection against this process because national security trumps the protection of intellectual property.

Where did all that expensive equipment come from...the government funded it. The science community works for the government and all the data produced with government money must be openly published. This is a dilemma.

There is no requirement that research be openly published. The MIT Innovation Office routinely patents research and never publishes it in an open way. The dilemma is only a short term concern, in the long run mainstream science will improve upon the existing research to build a mechanistic understanding of the process and all the predictive power than entails.

If me365 has what he says he has then LENR can generate neutrons, and logic dictates that a refined understanding of the mechanism will allow for even more neutrons to be generated. Conversely, without a clear understanding of the mechanism of LENR, no cold fusion device will ever be truly safe to use. Empirical research in secret will never yield a mechanistic understanding of the effect.

Assuming the validity of the current claims, commercialisation of LENR will have to wait until neutron emission is understood. This will have to be a community effort. I'd prefer to start today.

It is really beutifull phenomenon, that reflects how far mankind is.
Sadly, we were able to do this for more than 100 years.

On the other hand, I have to admit that absolutely no energy source is completely safe. It is simply impossible to avoid any hazard if energy is produced and consumed.
I also believe that knowledge of LENR process will be available very, very soon to all.

@ me356 is lenr possible without lithium? Can I use standard automotive catalyst for lenr? Will HOHO work for a source of hydrogen? store bought or concentrated because it is a lot stronger concentrated try freezing a new bottle and pouring it on substrate weird thick red powder is left over will not work twice though need new bottle every time. Is cat and mouse regular mains power by way I mean power used to make heat same exact power cycled to cause turbulent magnetic fields while still makeing heat? Does lenr require a closed from atmosphere environment some dumb things I have seen leads me to think not? Is three phase required for lenr and is this what you are useing because no one else will try it

@ me356 also can I use new Unused Polaroid film for neutron detection? if not what is a cheap and easy way to decide if I should proceed other than the burning skin (do not worry am not that far yet) do microwaves play any role? Charlie Tapp: Yes, LENR can work without lithium. Lithium is not catalyst in correct meaning.
Yes, HHO can be used. But you might need hydrogen purifier and/or dryer.
Unfortunately I dont understand question about cat and mouse.
Yes, LENR can work even in an open air in a certain conditions.
No, you do not need 3-phases.

No, you will need a special neutron detectors. I recommend very sensitive detectors. Bubble detectors from BTI are not bad option to start with and still not too expensive. But you will need BD-PND and PDT versions to cover wider range of energy spectrum.
Everything plays a role.

@ me356 regarding cat and mouse what I mean is will the same heating coil also work as the source of stimulation? If 120 volt coil at 3 amps steady state is cycled on and off while also heating, the spikes of power input would greatly change. Just thought that the cat would be the big spikes and the mouse would be the steady state. i forgot to ask if plasma or any kind of sparking required or does it just make it easier? Charlie Tapp: Yes, one heating coil can indirectly work as stimulation too.
Mouse and cat are two internal processes and can be completely independent. But you have to feed cat with mouses.
You have to look at this from very different point of view. First it is important to find where the excess energy is coming from.
When you will find source of the energy, you will also find how to use this energy. All questions will be answered by this finding.

Regarding plasma there are more reasons why to use it. There are more utilizations. For example arcing can be used in very different way than a glow discharge. Both can boost the effect, but you can also replace it with other phenomenons. LENR can be stimulated in many ways.

Matches are not regulated by the NRC but neutrons are. If matches were regulated by the NRC, the NRC would take your matches away. impose a heavy fine on you for their use and if you resist them, put you into prison.

Making good progress in LENR experimentation is a thankless job. It only engenders jealousy, hate and bad manners. The LENR believers are the worst. Their attitudes remind me of the nursery school case were three and four years olders are being potty trained. Some precious kids learn how to use the potty early and they smell good. Others cannot figure out how to make the smell go away, so they become jealous of the sweet smelling kids and begin to hate them. The smelly kid begin to hate themselves because they cannot figure out how to smell good. This flaw of jealousy and hate in human nature lasts for a lifetime even into their nineties
