  • me356 you might or might not have read my thread on Useful Laboratory Technique. I intend to add additional info to provide a basic shielding design that will improve the safety of experimenters. I intend to eventually publish blue prints in the thread. I'm still refining a few things so just stay tuned to that thread.


    Perfect shielding safety is impossible. Large factors of improvement are possible. For nominal purposes I'm aiming for a factor of 20 (or more) for most types of radiation. For neutrons, not such a large improvement will be practical The tricky part is that there are so many types of radiation to shield against and each needs its own different materials.
