    Now you sounds a bit like Mats Lewan <img src="https://www.lenr-forum.com/forum/wcf/images/smilies/smile.png" alt=":)" />

Well in this case I don't trust you and I don't trust Mats Lewan until further evidence is presented.

And that is absolutely your prerogative. I have zero trush in Mats, so I can understand your view. Since you do not have access to all the information, I urge you to at very least pay attention to his words and the amazing level of information that would would be pretty hard to come by outside of the Rossi camp. On a side note, I find it extremely telling and humorous that randombit0 has refused to engage me outside of his odd claim of sexist attack on his fake female persona even on legitimate questions. Do you honestly believe this is some random female scientist that no one knows about who has such a deep level of knowledge as exhibited here especially when challenging Thomas? Think about that for a minute....Thomas has been around for ages, randombit0 is quite the mysterious powerhouse in the field of LENR.....

  • randombit0's posts on Mats blog actually helped me out greatly in determining who it really is....

Although you've always desired to communicate with the authors of the Lugano report?

I have communicated with them, privately. They have not replied. Why would they do this via a public forum? They have my e-mail...

And randombit0 shows a levity and trollishness you would not expect of any academic, though of course expectations can be very misleading, especially in anything to do with Rossi?

  • It is amazing what one can find when processing a long history of posts/comments that contain a massive amount of grammar structure occurrences/errors (aka extra spaces continually used wrong for example among others) as well as statistics of word usage and order. Takes about 15 minutes to do if you are good with statistics. It is quite easy to do a quick litmus test against the rest of the posters on any particular forum...or even better across more than one forum. Common, sometimes even identical repeated rhetoric usage across more than one forum is such a dead giveaway as well. I could go on and on, but these are examples of low hanging fruit than are more than obvious to me when you can step back and look at it statistically and clearly after a trackrecord/history has been established. It really does not matter to me in the slightest if anyone believes me on this, all I am saying is keep it in mind as you look through post histories on all related forums as well as future information from certain individuals, I think it will be quite telling if you at least for a minute consider what I say...you have nothing to lose in just gaining perspective.

I don't disbelieve you. I'm not confident specific grammar is person-specific rather than native-language specific, for example. And I think it would require care to prove identity, and being a skeptic I don't know that you exercise the same level of care that I would. That then leaves identity in doubt with many options open.

    Best wishes, Tom.

I totally understand your perspective Tom, and I actually appreciate your level of care compared to mine... a lack thereof is an admitted fault of mine sometimes. My first instinct regarding the grammar was the same as yours, but I found no correlation between the constant misuse of certain very specific odd grammar to that of what we would see with native-language or use as second language. When you have more than one forum to grab historical data from and view the large amount of data in a tabular or statistical manner it is quite obvious and humorous. Certain words, phrases and misplaced sayings are repeated over and over when compared side by side to a certain famous character in the saga...again so obvious when many posts are available for analysis. For me, the grammar issues, rhetoric, phrases, sayings all matching up statistically at a remarkable level combined with his impressive ...wait I mean "her" impressive level of what some would consider almost insider Rossi-knowledge, it is impossible for my mind to not see the writing on the wall. Again, I totally understand people doubting me on this, but I think if you really look at the mentioned comparisons along with the actual context that this man woman speaks with, you will see what is going on. Thomas, you appear to me to be the most knowledgeable person on the technical side of this whole drama out of anyone I have read on any forum so far...and even have a remarkable grasp on the legal side...so I believe your heightened level of caution over this specific topic is probably the best position for the cause...

EDIT: I also have to say I find it quite humorous that such a knowledgeable powerful outspoken female scientist/engineer or whatever she claims to be would use a stock photo image of such a stunning woman as her account image. Seems quite misaligned with reality....

  • If the accusations of random being Rossi continue, I fear that the emissivity lessons will not be completed.
By now, we must realize how bad it can be for a Jedi to not complete their training...

Very true...but knowing who your debate partner is allows for great advantage that you should invest in. All information good or bad is knowledge when handled accordingly....

  • Here's a question I haven't seen addressed in the discussion of emissivity.

Given that the alumina is largely transparent in the wavelength regime strongly emitted by the heating coils and support tube insert/nickel powder, what fraction of the input energy simply radiates away from the reactor?

I imagine this a question of conduction vs radiation.

  • @Paradigmnoia

What I mean to say is that from a certain point of view the alumina tube, with a heating coil within it, could be thought of as akin to an incandescent lightbulb, since the alumina is transparent in the wavelength range of the bulk of the black body radiated power of the high temperature coil and the nickel powder within the device.

It's not a very good analogy because the coil is conducting some fraction of its heat to the alumina directly. My question is: "To what degree does the alumina transmit radiation emitted by the heating coils/nickel core?"

This effect would lower the COP and would not be observable at low calibration temperatures since the emitted power of the coil at low temperature is in the low emissivity window of the alumina.

  • @crawdaddy,
The transmitted IR energy does not heat the alumina, so the temperature is not as high as it could be if it were a blackbody, or a greybody with a fairly high emissivity.
Since we do not know exactly what the reactor is outputting in terms of shortwave IR that is not being counted by either the camera or by heating the alumina, what can be guessed is the difference between a blackbody at the same temperature as measured by the camera, and the total emissive power using the alumina total emissivity. I calculated an increase of 1.92 times the total selective alumina emissive power as being the maximum in that case. That probably is not quite right for various reasons, but it should be close to a maximum value.

With excellent accounting of the electrical power in, convective heat, room temperature, and total emissive power, one can simply subtract these heat values from the electrical input and the remainder should be the transmitted power. This will work in a normal heat system.

If there is something weird that causes an imbalance or concentration of the source heat towards the shortwave region, then it is possible to exceed the blackbody power spectrum total emissive power for a given surface temperature. By something weird, I mean coherent shortwave IR, or some peculiar internal reflection that bandpasses only in the shortwave, a certain material structure that changes the IR frequency or diffusivity, or a reaction which produces only/mostly shortwave that is transmitted through the alumina with high efficiency. This is complicated by heater wires in the way, optical thickness of the materials, and who knows what else.

Sorry to say this stephenrenzz but you are pretty much mistaken.
    - Randombit0 is not Mr Rossi
    - Randombit0 is not she, way too much testosterone and Italian temperament
    - Closest to Rossi you could get, he could be his Italian consultant Mr Fabiani, but I don't know well enough to propose that.
    - It could also be team of Rossi sympathizers, lots of Italian temperament in 'its' style. Maybe team of italians from cobra forum ( some italian reader could have spotted some hints there ).
    And further
    - Thomas Clarke is mostly using his scientific knowledge like 'Jehovah's Witness' (sorry if someone gets offended) to pick only tidbits fitting to his possible 'theory' and constructing the new interpretation of puzzle. ( see how 'E-cats now must have loose coupling and 'hot cores' there cannot be any other scientific explanation' and lots more ). He picks his fights to paint big picture dirty for Rossi and now even LENR (his mind seems shifting also).
    - Abd is partly repeating pattern of Thomas + he is using few of his unique 'believe me I've been there done that' and 'many has tried with me but failed miserably' -methods. Like we should sit down and buy his conclusions that are many parts flawed or cherrypicking the 'facts' that fits his possible 'theory'.
    - I deliberately call them 'theories' instead of 'agendas' because truth is we cannot know for sure, but judge by yourseves while following this saga.
    - Very few doesn't seem to recognize that when litigation come closer, 'reality' of IH supporters shifts same way as Rossis claims about factories etc. did in the past. Example? Earlier Dewey and Jed claimed LENR does not work, but now Mr Weaver has shifted to 'Rossi must successfully trasfer his IP to IH' claims (read from: Rossi: “Steam Was Superheated” in 1MW Plant Test ) which was quickly covered by storm of worthless read. Check yourself starting from link and you see how this machine works.

There is one difference between You, Abd, Deawey, and Thomas. You live in illusion that readers would be less intelligent than you and would buy what you write here, whereas Thomas is sensible enough to understand the reality and only tries his best without 'attitude'. Do I need to teach you more on term 'Besserwisser'.

PS. Bullying style against and by Sifferkoll belongs to elementary school toilet, here it has no positive effect on party who uses that practise.

  • @moderators:

Whilst of course Sifferkoll can post what he likes I prefer to keep links to claimed personal e-mail addresses etc out of this discussion. I make no claims as to professional qualifications other than what is apparent in my posts here and do not want to mix up work with what for me is a hobby.

So while I don't post under a high security pseudonym I'd prefer Sifferkoll's irrelevant and personal references above to be deleted. If not I'll stay away for a few weeks at least.
