FAKING IT! ( No, not that - the other thing -LENR) with Thermite

    Lookingforheat Lab has been having a little fun - and discovering new things about reactor safety and sensitivity - by investigating a complaint often heard about LENR experiments. The cry goes up '...it's just a chemical effect - not LENR!' Things are busy here, but these experiments are not unduly time consuming so we 'had a go'.

    We have added another refinement to the Model T (now being call 'Friendly Robot) reactor system. Never been totally happy with the fact that the internal thermocouple were fixed we have now made a small alteration that does three things at once.
    1. Improves insulation thickness ar what was the thinnest spot of the reactor wall,
    2. Enables both fuel container and thermocouple tip ( the part where the junction is) to occupy the same are of the port and keeps them close together.
    3. Simplifies swapping out defective TC's they now can be slid in and out with no problem.

    I was wondering why the video got so few views.
    The age restriction has been lifted now.


    I highly recommend everyone who doesn't have, to get a Youtube account, it allows for posting comments, creating playlists, give thumbs up and also subscribe to channels.
    It's such a good service, and it's free.

    Using fast thermite was misleading. It exploded, as fast thermite would. Using ordinary thermite would have been closer to a real possibility.


    But this is all addressing faux objections. Yeah, if someone think you are faking what you are doing, you can answer this objection, maybe, but they will have another and another and another. The appearance of fraud in the field has devastating effects, nothing will be trusted. That is why fraud in science, if discovered, is the end of the scientist's career.


    One can make mistakes many times, without that career demolition.


    NiH results, setting aside Rossi -- whose work is impeached with some level of evidence -- are still mostly in "possible artifact" territory, and chemical heat is an element in that, but not the whole story, for sure. Parkhomov's original work was never thoroughly investigated, but people still think of that showing as definitive. It showed many signs of artifact, and this was never nailed. That characteristic of moving on to try to "improve" an experiment instead of thoroughly investigating it is one of the pathologies that has long affected LENR research.


    Yes, thermite is fun. I played with it when I was in high school.

    Of course they are incorrect objections. That is why the thread title is 'faking it'. Perhaps we should all get out a little more?

    Faking it doesn't involve thermite. It involves avoidance of calibration, control of the experiment by the inventor, improper use of incorrect and non-optimal instruments, misdirection and outright cheating (the cheese video trick), and other such methods.
