No- but there was plenty of opposition from within the EU bureaucracy. Very few acientists will publicly criticise a grant-funding body at the point of handing out grants. They themselves are dependent on the goodwill of those who hold the purse-strings. Sometimes- after things go very wrong they will criticise but it is rarely you hear of such problems.

The 4 wires going to the ecat are the correct colours for three phase plus neutral in Italy. There are three wires coming out of each end of the ecat. There are two wire connections coming out of each end of the ecat by combining two of the three leads to one connection.
I tried to make sense of that and decided it might be possible to operate the easiest wiring interpretation but it would be ugly on the power supply end. Electrically like rolling a semi-circle for a wheel.
I guess that using 3 phase 3 wire, when there is actually a neutral (so should be 3 phase 4 wire), reads a phase backwards or something. Need one of those PCEs to test out one day. They are getting old enough to start being available used/obsolete for a decent price maybe, but I haven’t seen any around. But anyways I expect the PCE operates in a pretty standard way to whatever input it gets.
The manual has examples of 3-phase 3-wire AND 3-phase 4-wire ... but that's for a 1-phase load hanging off one of the wires, which needs N.
The 'indications' paper has two more shots of the instrument desk-top --- but I still can't see "current" wires OR clamps near the eCat ... which are quite big. Could be hidden by the desk.
Edit: Fig 12 (right) has a glimpse of the back of the desk. But it's not clear enough to see anything.

Yes, it looks similar, but the four things in JR's list are separated by periods, so they seem to be just synonyms or different aspects of one and only one thing, which is later called "moola" (1). In any case, a special emphasis is put on FUNDING, the first thing in the list and the only one in capital letters.
Consider that in December 2011, when he posted the comment, JR was engaged full steam in convincing the world of the reality of the Ecat. He justified his own belief on the positive opinion of the UniBo professors, who in turns at that time were still hoping to get 500 thousands Euros in FUNDING from Rossi.
In the same Vortex discussion (2), JR also highlighted the positive impression, which Rossi made on other CF/LENR experts, including a main supporter of the reality the F&P results. The same chain of interests and anecdotal beliefs at works for both couples: F&P and Rossi/Focardi.

ISTR the intention was clear. He was making deals with various sources of funding, so plausible. I think UniBo even commented that a payment was due before any work could start. (This was before lenr-forum ... talked about on vortex, I think.)
But then the 'nobel' group showed up, and Rossi switched horses.

The post is still valid, but nowadays a better synthesis on CF story should start from F&P and include the two EU projects HERMES and CleanHME.
As for the AR adventure in CF, the most informed synthesis was provided IMO by Marianne Macy (1).

Keep in mind that the March part used a single phase ecat, where the December part is three phase.
So, for the photos you posted, the amp clamps are visible on the workbench. (Not in those photos)
For the December test the amp clamps seem to be way up the rack for some reason.

If the CT’s were 5 amp output, (not mv), they could have been installed upside down, resulting in odd power quadrant readings.
Power & Energy would still be accurate,
But may have a - in front of power factor.
These are trivial errors made by amateur install crew and instantly apparent on the meter.
Rossi’s “geniusness” should seen that.
Note that Rossi handed over the ecat to the "independent team". He may have been around, he may have helped tehm ... but any/all of them should have double/triple/quadruple checked the system.
They are all (maybe except Levi) excellent professors and theoretical scientists.
But NONE of the team are experimental scientists. They did call in help for the IR aspects: they SHOULD have called in a electrical engineer for the power end. (Ditto and likewise for ALL the tests ... RMS etc etc)
So it's incompetence (and hubris), not fraud.

But I don't think I'm going to dig deeper into Rossi history.
A lot of this re-visiting/re-hashing derived from a question as to why *I* haven't written Rossi off totally.
And my answer remains -- he's a liar who may have something. The proof has failed, but so much of the work was so sloppy that the dis-proof has failed too.
I STILL have my name in the domestic unit pre-order list ... and I'll exercise that option!

The last thing to consider, not that anything can be seriously made of it, is that the Professors say they bring their own testing equipment to several tests but Rossi always has the exact same stuff.

This is what I eagerly await. There is, increasingly, less and less room for ambiguity. The demo will presumably involve measuring Ecat SLK electrical output instead of heat measurement, the latter being fraught with all manner of trouble as we know. What could go wrong with simply measuring electrical input and output?
