Rossi-Blog Comment Discussion

  • WHOA! Stop right there. How dare you post that without a Trigger Warning?! Are you trying to give people PTSD??

    A.A. and Axil:

DO NOT READ THIS! Go to your safe space, NOW.

  • From the abstract of the Lugano report: "The total net energy obtained during the 32 days run was about 1.5 MWh."

This heat output does not include the heat supplied by the heater wiring. This added heat would only insure that the fuel is vaporized. Also, how does a minuscule clump of fuel distribute heat evenly over the entire reactor body? There was no hot spots reported.

  • axil ,

You simply have not come to terms with the fact that the reported temperature of the reactor in Lugano was grossly wrong. Nearly doubled. This leads to an even more gross over calculation of the output power, leading to an over estimate of the energy “produced” of about 1.5 MWh.

Considering the uncertainty bounds of the reported measurements and calculations, there is no anomalous extra heat once the temperature measurement error is corrected.

It simply does not work. As I have said many times, anyone with a bit of skill can make an alumina tube device that makes about the same “COP” as Lugano with no fuel whatsover, using the Lugano infrared protocol.

  • It does not matter what you think or what I think, it is what Rossi might think that is the point of this discussion. The point in question is what caused Rossi to assume that his fuel would work in a plasma.

it is not about thinking the fuel will work in a plasma.

We know that Rossi's trick can be done with no fuel at all.

A plasma, however, allows much greater power amplification than mere IR bandwidth manipulations can supply.

Now a colour temperature or maybe even an electron temperature can be construed as the actual temperature of a small area, but larger than the actual plasma, and treated as a black body, in order to make stupendous claimed COPs. (22000!)

The peak of his light spectrum detection range (200 to 1100 nm) was at Stockholm and Doral (Whiteboard, Gullstrom) where the supposed peak of the black body was supposed to occur (1100 nm). When the peak occurs at the edge, how does one know it is a black body at all, when the majority of the black body curve will be literally off the chart? Never mind that the intensity of the QX at Stockholm was unable to overcome the intensity of the reflected projector light from the overhead screen, as well as the ceiling lights when they were on.

And... his spectrometer software can measure and display the actual radiant power directly. (Someone else should calibrate the thing properly for him first though.)

We would still be confused whether the QX size is like a hair fragment, a grain of rice, or a glass fuse.

For that matter, why not stick a 1A fuse inline, rather than a 10W resistor? Maybe a sweet dial made with a dozen fuses of various ratings, clicking from one to the next, going ever lower, until one pops...

  • Rossi is very wrong in assuming that QX heat is black body. I have my own ideas about where the heat is coming from and it is not produced by black body processes. Rossi just invented all this spectral malarkey from whole cloth.

  • The mysterious Fred Zoepfl strikes again. Abd wrote up a good post about him 2 years ago (#229) Rossi-Blog Comment Discussion

On Rossi's blog, correspondent "JPR" (who is most likely Rossi himself) alleges that Zoefpl is a business partner of Joseph Murray, the engineer hired by IH to look at Rossi's work. I don't know if this is true or not.

    " ....

To add comics to clownesque: one of the consultants of Cherokee, Mr Eng Murray, partner of Mr Eng. Zoepfl in the consulting firm 3D Phoenix, located few miles from IH..."

    Edit:

Zoepfl is also the guy who (according to Rossi in one of his depositions) notified Florida Heath & Safety that a potential radiation hazard existed at the Doral work site. This resulted in the visit of inspector James Stokes to the Doral site.

  • ... And this year the Nobel Prize in physics goes to Dt. Andrea Rossi (oh no, Rossi missed his chance again):

    https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/physics/2018/summary/

Arthur Ashkin (1/2), Gérard Mourou (1/4), Donna Strickland (1/4)

However, next year - after the presentation and the mass manufacturing of the e-cat SK - the Nobel prize committee and the Academy surely can not ignore Rossi any longer!

    Am I right, @Adrian?

But on this t-shirts the year needs to be updated again.

  • Andrea Rossi 1/2 Sergio Focardi 1/4 Sven Kullander 1/4.

  • Sam, the Nobel is not awarded posthumously. So Rossi is the only one eligible by that restriction. In addition, the Nobel is also not awarded to blatent frauds. So don’t wait up for the announcement.

They gave a Nobel to a dead person once.

I hope Dr Rossi lives long enough to work

on his invention long enough to prove he has succeeded and receive the Nobel.

  • And JPR used to be JCR, but Rossi mixed up the middle name over a year ago.

Maybe his JoNP persona file was on another laptop....

  • Does this also end the no vents discussion??

We knew the original vents were in the roof. We looked at a half a gazzillion rooftop images once upon a time, before even the lively magic disappearing window circus.

So now we see four, maybe 6” heat ducts directed into the vent. These went to a box enclosure behind the Black container, which looks to contain the heat exchanger that was in the shade, out of the control container doorway behind Fabiani in the soldering photo, and possibly in the “hallway” beside the grey wall in the IH exhibit photos of the Doral venting. (The black container contained a serpentine of large steel pipes, containing Pt catalyst or graphene somewhere under heat tape, and insulation. Only four of the many pipes in the black container were actually being used when inspected. No sign of how air got out.... Perhaps Rossi believed these pipes were in the mezzanine, along with the small enclosure and heat exchanger, maybe which has fans, and the mezzanine window is actually the ceiling vent).

What a noise they would make if forced to vent enough air through those pipes to carry off a MW or so. Feel free to do the calculations. At least it is better than the bathroom fan vent some were attempting to use for explanation. Supersonic venting there, if I recall correctly.
