Hi Wyttenbach, I asked sometime back for an experimental writeup that you liked on the Stringham sonofusion experiments, and you were only able to point to summaries. I am willing to take a further look at this question.

Never heard it put so succinctly. I agree whole-heartedly.

The high temperature at the North Pole today was above freezing.

Bizarre North Pole temperatures cap off year of record-setting warmth
QuoteThe Global Forecast System, a weather prediction system run by the U.S. National Weather Service, forecasts that the temperature at the North Pole could inch close to the melting point of 32 degrees Fahrenheit on Thursday — nearly 50 degrees warmer than normal.
It’s a fitting end to 2016, which is expected to be the third year in a row to set new highs for hottest year on record.
“Record ‘warmth’ has been mostly persistent in the Arctic during the fall and helped to contribute to record low extent and volume of sea ice. While temperatures are variable in the Arctic, the persistence of such ‘warmth’ this year is very unusual.”

Indeed. Arctic ice levels have been declining at the same rate since the 70's (and that includes since 1998 or whatever). Cruise ships traverse the Northwest Passage these days.
Although to play devil's advocate, one could say that in the Antarctic, ice levels have been increasing recently.
...But that just sounds like another example of 'climate change' to me.
