The very same. And as you know, anybody who is on Krivit's hit list is assured of being in my good books ( and those of many others.)
This Russ George ?
Quote from Some NutterDarcy Russell George was born on Dec. 6, 1949. He grew up in Utah. On some Web sites, he has listed himself as D.R. George. However, he has no college degree.
Oh the horror! What an outrage!
Quote from S.B. KrivitTo Russ George: Is Scott Chubb working with you?
... later...
To Scott Chub: I talked with Russ today. … He says you're working for D2.
Umm yeah, ‘journalism’ at its finest... No wonder Larsen cut off his stipend.
(Personally I’ve been a fan of RG since his supposedly ill-advised dumping of tonnes of iron into the Caribbean sea... Each to their own, I guess.)
Zeus,
One minor correction...he dumped iron off the coast of western Canada, not the Caribbean. Other than that, I agree with you and Alan.
And the dumping of the iron dust (a pound or less every square mile) probably was probably responsible for a record crop of Salmon, so much that the freezers and the canneries were full and they had to stop fishing. Several hundred thousand free Salmon dinners were added to the US school lunch program were added to help reduce the glut.
A record drop in shellfish survival and growth rate too.
Amazing how those salmon were born, hatched, swam out to the ocean from their many rivers, and grew to catchable size in such numbers so quickly...

I guess they wanted to be in the Guinness Book of Records -or maybe on YouTube. Actually the extra food is alleged to have brought more of the mature fish- which don't breed every year into season, they were already around,
distroying the optimism of this thead was the only point
Seiber,
We have some very creative minds here. If there is not any good news to talk about...as has been the case lately, they get bored and focus on each other instead.
Maybe we could get BG to move up Oday?
ive seen this hunderds of time " how to put one in time out" game. its aways the same~

Do you have a source for this- and can you explain why it is happening along a large part of the pacific coast?
My sources are as anecdotal as the iron evidence for growing the salmon. An ocean water acidification event has been suggested by shellfish farmers, but how they figure that out I have no idea. I suppose due to poor calcium availability leading to weak shells, but that is a guess.
Edit: The reason this comes to mind is that a couple of commercial scallop farmers specifically told me that some ******* dumped a ********* of iron in the ocean, wiping out a couple generations of scallops and other shellfish. Maybe they were grasping for a scapegoat. I don't know.
Display MoreWe're not, to my knowledge, attempting to arrive at an overall assessment of H-G's character or contribution (nor should we). I mentioned the matter of some substantive points he raised, some of which I just mentioned.
You appear to be seeking to make a case against H-G. In doing so, you are overlooking some substantive discussion I just referred to and are getting into matters of character (ad hominem). If his questions have been addressed elsewhere, please refresh our memory as to what the answers were or bring additional information you may be aware of to bear on the discussion. When papers are mentioned, it's good to extract the relevant concepts and weave them into the discussion, relating them to earlier things that have been said.
When we focus instead on H-G's alleged unworthiness, we allow the discussion to be detained in tangents about people's personalities rather than considering facts and science. Although some people will try to score points, as you say, intelligent readers will not be distracted by weak arguments, which can always be politely rebutted. And the points H-G made above that I referred to were not weak ones.
ah yes, i see exactly what you mean - ad hominem - lack of supporting reference to papers - 'strawman' type arguments - no, we don't to encourage any of that, a good point, well made, Eric
I think this forum would benefit if members had less 'i am right you wrong attitude'. Two posts out of three are either demonstration of own wit or an attack on the other person.
The forum can be renamed to 'high school discussion club champ masters forum'

i couldn't agree more, Max - it seems self-defeating to the intent of the forum, that when one tries to assist another genuine member against a trouble-maker this sort of interrogation follows. counter-productive and short-sighted for the well-being of the forum. sad days. thanks for your constructive contributions
I gather, nul-points, that you're hear more to assist against trouble makers than to discuss LENR and related topics. I advise against assisting against putative trouble makers in any way other than addressing topical points that they make, politely correcting their factual basis if necessary.
Where, in reputable journals or newspapers, could one read about the huge increase and remarkable surplus of salmon following iron dumping? And presumably only in the areas affected by said dumping? I had thought this was more in the line of folklore. Thanks
documentation of this part especially if you don't mind please:

Easy to fond such stories, and easy to find criticisms. Here's one about the Salmon.
