  • Sweet Dreams and Good Morning

    Any time

I find my way back to poetry,

I know that healing has begun.

    Is well underway, in fact.

Through the night we held the hand of darkness with tenderness

Because there exists in words the danger

    Of the ‘too many’

    And the ‘too few’.

    Understanding is all that matters.

This is why there is a special language for the heart.

It is poetry and only poetry the heart can trust.

Poetry is not the words but that which inspires the heart to stillness

or to sing like the first birds, who notice and celebrate at just the right

moment that we are between and now.

So, when the dawn arrived in her delicate miracle, the garbage trucks

    synchronized between you and me,

    declared in their blunt manner,

“I’M HERE TO COLLECT THE GARBAGE. TOO LATE TO CHANGE YOUR MIND.”

Matter of factly, they hauled away the ‘too many’ and the ‘too few’

to The Dump; a no-frills graveyard for things past.

Night whispers gratitude for your patience as she drifts away, satisfied.

And the day, like a loving farm wife preparing homemade biscuits and jam,

    serves poetry for breakfast.

    Sweet Dreams

    And

    Good Morning.

    --Apologies to the BEE GEES--

Well, you can tell by the way I use my DVM

I'm a woman's man, no time to talk

Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around

    Since I was born

And now it's alright, it's okay

And you may look the other way

    We can try to understand

Those that eat from my dirty hands

    Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother

We got Sigma Five, Sigma Five!

Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin'

And we got Sigma Five, Sigma Five!

Ah, ha, ha, ha, Sigma Five, Sigma Five!

Ah, ha, ha, ha, Sigma Five!

Well now, I get low and I get high

And if I can't get either, I really try

Got the wings of Heaven on my shoes

    I'm a dancin' man and I just can't lose

You know it's alright, it's okay

I'll live to see another day

    We can try to understand

Those that eat from my dirty hands

    Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother

We got Sigma Five, Sigma Five!

    The Search for Dark Matter

    OCTOBER 26, 2016

    The Search for Dark Matter
From deep underground to outer space, researchers supported by the DOE’s Office of Science are working to understand this mysterious type of matter.
    www.energy.gov

"Without dark matter, it's possible that we would not exist," said Michael Salamon, a DOE Office of Science High Energy Physics (HEP) program manager.new face at DOE https://www.fnal.gov/pub/today…e_2010/today10-09-07.html

    Symmetry Magazine article

Michael Salamon is a program director for dark matter experiments at DOE's Office of High Energy Physics. Science doesn't happen in a vacuum. Experiments require support and oversight. They also require a liaison between laboratories and agencies that fund them. For many working on dark matter projects, Michael Salamon is that liaison.

He's the new program manager for dark matter experiments at DOE's Office of High Energy Physics. Having combed the skies for evidence of the existence of neutralinos decades ago, he now combs proposals and budgets so others may advance the Cosmic Frontier.

As an astrophysics professor at the University of Utah in the late 1980s and '90s, Salamon was a member of the Fly's Eye collaboration, which measured the energies of ultra-high-energy cosmic ray showers. His research program also included suborbital searches for cosmic antimatter and theoretical work in high-energy particle astrophysics.

He was also a public advocate for the use of space-based observatories for fundamental physics investigations. That caught the ears of people at NASA, who recruited Salamon in 2001 to head a new program, Fundamental Physics In Space, which later became the Physics of the Cosmos Program.

"It was traumatic to leave academia, but it was with the idea of providing a valuable service to the science community," Salamon said. For nine years he oversaw research and development for projects such as the Joint Dark Energy Mission and the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna.

Last May he joined DOE, where he's in charge of a full portfolio of non-accelerator experiments at the nation's five major high-energy laboratories. As program manager, Salamon evaluates experiments, distributes resources and, during rough patches, conducts triage.

"He knows the details of the science of the experiments and has lots of experience with how government works," said Kathy Turner, with whom Salamon co-manages the non-accelerator program. "We're happy he's here.

"Salamon still channels his inner professor, volunteering his time to teach physics at George Washington University. As is the case with his current position, it's the love of sharing science that drives him.-- Leah Hesla

    When I heard the learn'd astronomer;

    When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me;

    When I was shown the charts and the diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them;

When I, sitting, heard the astronomer, where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,

    How soon, unaccountable, I became tired and sick;

Till rising and gliding out, I wander'd off by myself,

In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,

Look'd up in perfect silence at the stars.

    Walt Whitman

"When I heard the Learn'd Astronomer," Leaves of Grass

Michael Salamon analyzes Walt Whitman's poem in his Physics for Poets piece and misses the point.

In my opinion the student lost in the wonder of the stars is gaining inspiration and a yearning that sparked the learn'd astronimer when he was that boy... long ago.

Whitman's poems strengths are often of that nature... spanning time and perspectives... you have a knack for that too. - gbgoble

Michael expounds on this further in this article...

  • A few days ago we lost Dr. Matsumoto.

He surely joined with Dr. Emoto.

Probably no one will see a relation

But surely when they met, there was elation.

I certainly Hope to see LENR helping humans to blossom, and I'm here to help it happen.
