The EPO reports that a patent from Brillouin is expected to be granted

the grant looks like the WET and HHT reactor design.

  • If you want to see most of the LENR issued and pending patents, they are listed under these two classifications:

G21B3/002 Fusion by absorption in a matrix

G21B3/00 Low temperature nuclear fusion reactors, e.g. alleged cold fusion reactors

The Brillouin EPO patent is classified under the first of these. It is based on the same provisional as these three pending US patents:

US20110122984 ENERGY GENERATION APPARATUS AND METHOD

A practical technique for inducing and controlling the fusion of nuclei within a solid lattice. A reactor includes a loading source to provide the light nuclei which are to be fused, a lattice...

  • BEC covered that in a press release:

BERKELEY, CA, January 31, 2019 – Brillouin Energy Corp., a leading company in

the Low Energy Nuclear Reaction (LENR) field, announced that it has obtained a

significant Patent associated with its design for a potentially world-changing “Hydrogen

Hot Tube”, or “HHT™” reactor system from the European Union Patent Office. The

Patent, which has been issued for a crucial component of the HHT reactor system, the

“Controlled Electron Capture Reaction” (CECR) for “Energy Generation Apparatus and

Method”, is dated September 26, 2018.

Brillouin Energy has made significant progress since the last quarter of 2017, when it

was making a few Watts of controlled LENR (excess) reaction heat on a consistent and

repeatable basis. In the last five months, the Company has reached the stage where it

is now reliably able to produce 50 to 60 Watts of controlled LENR (excess) reaction heat

with a Coefficient of Power (COP) consistently over 2.25 times (2.25X energy output vs.

energy input) within its HHT™. As these COP results continue to rise, Brillouin Energy’s

CECR technology continues to move closer to being able to power up to 30,000 homes

for one year on the amount of hydrogen contained in the volume of an average glass of

    water.

“We are on the cusp of a new era of cheap, abundant and reliable power from LENRbased systems, at a time when the United States and many other countries are reexamining their approaches for supporting clean energy technologies,” said Robert W.

George, Chief Executive Officer, Brillouin Energy.

The CECR Patent issued by the EU is one of the Company’s primary patents describing

the underlying physics for controlled pulsed power stimulation of an LENR reaction. It

outlines the practical technique for inducing and controlling the reaction within a metallic

lattice. The reaction produces a large amount of thermal energy, and an extremely small

amount of inert (harmless) helium. Other than this primary heat output, there are no

toxic, radioactive or CO2 byproduct emissions of any kind

  • The patent referred above is a European Union Patent. Godes is talking about US Patents and the fact that the USPTO refuses to grant patents to LENR companies.

I was wondering about the laws on that. From an investors standpoint, will having a EU patent offer some IP protection in the US?

  • I was wondering about the laws on that. From an investors standpoint, will having a EU patent offer some IP protection in the US?

Basically no protection in the US regarding this one.

But it's only part of the reactor details. E.g. the electrode details are not part of this patent family.

As Godes mentioned, some details will be kept as trade secret. Probably the details of the electrode materials. Meaning that a trade secret license in the US will be required to make products based on Brillouin's technology in the US.
The only problem with this is that the materials of the electrodes will be easy to analyze and therefore enable copying (without penalty).

In an earlier (abandoned) patent application an example of the electrode details are given:

  • If it was a European manufacturer exporting to the US market, then they could be sued in Europe (well, the countries it now covers of Europe).

This may depend on the license details. A manufacturer located in the EU with a license might be allowed to export to the US if the licensor allows this in the contract (probably charging fees per manufactured/sold unit).

  • This may depend on the license details. A manufacturer located in the EU with a license might be allowed to export to the US if the licensee allows this in the contract (probably charging fees per manufactured/sold unit).

I meant a BLP competitor infringing their EU patent exporting infringing products to the US could be sued in the originating (or exporting) EU country; hence providing some (but easy to circumvent) protection for the US market.

  • I think we have to stop having an angelic point of view on the patent business.

Elon Musk revealed some of his patents because he understood if they aren't enough disruptive they will be easily copied by others especially by China.

Then he doesn't have his prolific time to waste at the court.

Why is he always in a hurry ? To continuing to be on head only a small step on head it's enough.

Now, if your technology is really difficult to be copied in this way a simple patent will be enough.

About Rossi, good or bad was his technology he drowned the entire world by his patents, why ?

If we consider his technology easily plagiatable, writing patents played as some business cards for him.

I just tried to highlight it exists so many different targets to reach by writing patents, not only to protect something.

  • About Rossi, good or bad was his technology he drowned the entire world by his patents, why ?

True, but he had only 1 Italian patent approved that is now lapsed. He does have the 1 US patent, but it was for a fluid heater. One of the fuels listed was his fuel wafer, so he may be able to leverage that for money if someone puts a LENR steam boiler on the market, but doubtful.

At one time when working with IH, he claimed to be readying 200 patents. But so far, he has not exactly drowned the entire world. Maybe after Dec 9?

  • Rossi has maybe two patent applications in the queue.

    Dear Andrea,

    A couple of questions.

If you able to share, about how many patent applications have you filed in the last two years?

Is your method of harvesting electricity from plasma also applicable to other plasmas generated by other means?

    Thanks for your time!

    Mark U:

    1- two

    2- I don’t know

    Warm Regards,

    A.R.

  • After Dec 9 all well know that forecast will be exactly the same..

However what i know is that a lot of people, teams, universities were involved around him not especially IH.

His patent "strategy" was linked with in mind, how high he was paranoid.

In other hand i expected his pananoia linked with the same Brouillin problem, find tricks to as possible well hide his technology because easily stealable.
