    that provides "very clear experimental evidence" of the generation of relativistic particles from a tabletop experiment.

    Long before Rossi came on the scene I was looking at the literature and thought Holmlid's stuff interesting. Since then his theoretical speculation has got less coherent. His experimental stuff remains of interest and if replicated would be of high interest.


    What I see is individual experiments with results interpreted in a given way. I believe the experimental results but not the interpretations which change to fit different experiments.


    For example, in this case high power lasers are generating high energy particles. Expected. The evidence is summarised:


    The present study employs a combination of magnetic deflection and time (time-of-flight, TOF) measurement methods to identify the ejected MeV particles. Large fluxes of particles with velocities 10–20 MeV u-1 [1113] definitely indicate nuclear reaction processes. However, ordinary D+D fusion reactions only give an energy up to 3.0 MeV u-1 in the first reaction step, and up to 14.7 MeV u-1 in the second step of the reactions. Thus, other nuclear processes take place. The ejected mass is here found by magnetic deflection to be less than unity but much larger than the electron mass. At least two different masses are observed, which agrees with the particles being light mesons. The particle decay times observed agree very well with this conclusion.


    The interpretation here is highly contentious as I'm sure you will agree. Holmlid supposes these results indicates specific particles and mechanisms when the evidence pointing in that direction is very indirect and susceptible to errors.


    I agree, a thread here looking in detail at these results and seeing what they mean would be interesting, rooted in experimental data. However taking Holmlid's unsupported interpretations, without reference to the underlying experimental data, is unhelpful. Physicists do like looking at evidence of surprising reactions, so you can be sure that such experiments will get replicated (just as Lett's double laser experiment was replicated). That is unless there is some mundane (boring) explanation that fits these results.

    Holmlid's work has been replicated - I don't have the details to hand, but I think it was done by Olofsson (?) in Iceland.

    I have not found that. Olofson has two papers (co-authored with Holmlid) on the laser fusion results.

    No replication to my knowledge of Holmlid's thought-provoking earlier results (630kev +/- 30keV):

  • Sveinn Ólafsson (a different person from Frans Olofson) replicated the results in his laboratory in Iceland (note that Holmlid cannot travel) but he hasn't written a proper paper yet independently from Holmlid.

    Sindre Zeiner-Gundersen (of Norront) replicated the results in Oslo independently from Ólafsson and Holmlid, but he hasn't submitted a paper for peer-review either.

    Abd would say that is a prevalent problem with LENR, those few hardy skeptics willing to pay attention to be encouraged. But others would not agree.

    Your belief in QM and how LENR results violates QM, might indicate that QM does not apply to LENR.

  • Axil, thanks for the link above. It is very neat.


    It is about an extension of standard QM in which Hamiltonians are not required to be Hermitian, and their eigenvalues (energy states) can therefore be real or complex. This is the requirement for PT symmetry.


    This is however not suggesting any breaking of normal QM. Rather this extension can be used neatly to model certain QM systems that are known to be PT symmetric, since the distinction between positive and imaginary energy values corresponds to stable vs unstable states. Hence commercial applications: these systems now have behaviour that can easily be understood.


    It is very neat computational device. Whether it might represent some larger underlying physics I have no idea but Bender is not suggesting that here, and if it did it would have to be something that reduces to normal QM in most cases.


    Showing that such a an extension had predictive physical differences from standard QM would be great, and allow experiments to determine which is true, but normally extensions like this exactly model normal physics so can't be distinguished.

    Physicists have observed spontaneous symmetry breaking in an optical microcavity, they have demonstrated experimentally the emergence of spontaneous symmetry breaking in an ultrahigh-Q whispering-gallery microresonator. The Optical whispering gallery (WGW) microcavity is the structural form that the Surface Plasmon Polariton assumed in LENR. . These whispering gallery modes are analogous to the acoustic resonances in the whispering gallery in St. Paul Cathedral in London.


    This is an important application of PT symmetry breaking and explained where the monopole SR comes from.



    A critical clue to the role of symmetry breaking in LENR is the observation that the application of an electrostatic field catalyzes spontaneous symmetry breaking in the WGW via the Kerr effect. Here, a dipole SR is transformed into a monopole SR.

    The application of an electrostatic field has been listed as a trigger of the LENR reaction in Rossi's patent. When this electrostatic field is applied, the WGW produces symmetry breaking which induces a energy transfer between a proton and a simultaneous decay in that proton via a symmetry breaking based entangled magnetically carried superconductive interface.

    Abstract

    Magnetic fields were calculated for transatoms with different nuclear charge and different number of Cooper pairs with S = 1 (bosons). Transatoms are a new state of matter with the name - spin-nuclide-electron condensate. The magnitudes of the magnetic fields of transatoms allow them to attract each other. When two transatoms approach each other, their electron shells are socialized. As a result, a dual-core system is being created. Further, other transatoms may join this system. Thus, a multi-core system is formed:

    transmolecule. The motions of electrons, nuclei, and nucleons in nuclei
    in this transmolecule are strongly correlated. Such a tight correlation leads
    to the synchronization of all types of interactions in a transmolecule. For
    example: the exchange of nucleons between nuclei must be synchronized with
    electroweak interactions (transformations of protons into neutrons or,
    conversely, neutrons into protons)

  • Sort of a preschool but... long ago working with a theory I used two variable speed drills, two white foam 6" tubes, placed one above one below . A steal bolt centered in the foam core to see the spin and orbits of smaller particles after sanding one of them and the figure eight pattern after sanding both.

    The theory of a left hand rotation still confuses me unless its viewed as an incoming. As an outgoing or an orbit trap particle why would it decay more in a left turn? when the orbit influence that creates the spin is trying to rip it apart in the first place.? Any more info on this other then "they" said so?

    On October 6, the XXV International Conference on Cold Transmutation of the Nuclei of Chemical Elements and Ball Lightning ended

    At the conference, in addition to theoretical calculations, a number of reports were made on existing models of Cold Nuclear Transmutation Reactors (Parkhomov, Klimov, Godin, Greenyer).
