    I do not know how we missed this company, but they are solid, well funded, and have some of the most respected names in LENR behind them. Call it what you will...Muon Catalyzed, UDD, whatever...it is all in the LENR family as far as I am concerned. And when they have names like Holmlid, Olaffson, and Gunderson ( who Mizuno recently gifted a reactor to) backing it, they have to be taken seriously. Not much on the internet about them, but here is one translated article about them:


    GU Ventures company UltraFusion Nuclear Power is merged with Norrønt Fusion Energy

    GU Venture Incubator Company UltraFusion Nuclear Power AB, founded with Professor Leif Holmlid at Gothenburg University, has collaborated with Norrønt Fusion Energy AS. The purpose is to combine companies' results, to resource efficiency and speed up product development of the new merger reactor.


    UltraFusion Nuclear Power AB ("UltraFusion") is based on fusion research by Leif Holmlid, Professor Emeritus at Gothenburg University, and is owned by him and GU Ventures. UltraFusion managed to experiment experimentally with a new, functional small-scale fusion process that works and gives energy over break-even, which means that more energy comes out of the system than it is supplied. It's a unique result that has been very difficult to show earlier. It was published in a scientific journal (AIP Advances 5, 2015) and was attracted to press internationally. After that, work has continued and several new results have been achieved and patented.


    Norrønt Fusion Energi AS ("Norrønt") has in parallel built up its own prototype and demonstrator, partly differently designed but based on the same research. It shows the same unique results. For more than three years, Ultra¬Fusion and Norrønt have had cooperation, which has now led to the merger of companies. The main reason for the merger is that resources should be used in a more efficient manner and that the next version of the fusion reactor can be obtained faster.

    "Leif Holmlid has gone a different way from the major international merger projects with regard to what is called cold merger. Thanks to his choice to do that, it has produced extremely interesting results. Now we want to show that it also works on a larger scale. Together with Norrønt, we will reach the target faster, "says Roger Cederberg, chairman of UltraFusion.


    Dr. Dag H. Zeiner-Gundersen and PhD student Sindre Zeiner-Gundersen lead the research and commercialization in Norrønt in Norway.

    "The Nordic Alliance with Norrønt is now conducting extensive research and commercialization efforts to produce clean and efficient energy from ultra-low deuterium, a form of hydrogen. We are now working on optimizing and scaling up technology for a number of industrial applications, Dr. Day H. Zeiner-Gunder.


    Fusion is an energy source that potentially can make a major contribution to the host's energy and replace coal and oil.

  • Looks like a good business model where an inventor (Leif Holmlid) teams up with a well established existing company (Norront AS) with appropriate technical skills and access to resources. The new company (Norront Fusion Energy) seems well placed to progress the technology towards practical systems.


    Interestingly the mechanism behind the proposed ultra-dense H states and their fusion remains speculative.

  • Jozef Zlomanczuk and Carl-Oscar Gullström [nuclear physics, Uppsala University] are meson researchers, too.

    Bayarbadrakh Baramsai [Los Alamos - from 2017 at Nasa Glenn Research Center - two full years] is, au cointraire, a 235U fission isomers researcher via advanced neutrons detecting tools.

  • Good luck to Norront if the muon generator checks out. We could also use the Mizuno reactor to test out whether muons are the active agent in inducing fusion of H or D - simply no excess heat should be recorded if no UDD or UDH is formed as a precursor to fusion (see Deneum results-they also used liquid nitrogen which would act to 'mop up' any muons released from UDD or UDH). Or alternatively link their patented muon generator to a Mizuno-type reactor, pump in the muons and see what happens! Probably a better option than pumping them into a D-T plasma which we all know cannot be contained at 10 million degrees K for long enough to energy break even let alone fusion energy production.

    I think Holmlid has been able to position his papers strategically as academical support for the patent application.


    If one reads Santilli’s application final rejection the core of the reason to deny was the lack of theoretical basis within academia. Santilli’s own Hadronic Journal papers were dismissed as not valid because they were not considered peer reviewed. In that sense Santilli’s own clash with Academia came back to bite him many years later.

  • It is great that Norront Fusion appear to be putting money into Holmlid's ideas. They seem credible enough I'm not surprised somone is willing to gamble.


    I put their chances pretty low, and don't really think this has any relationship to LENR claim results. (Though that is perhaps positive). But if they are honest it will be great to get more data.

  • The technology uses a condensed form an ultra-dense state of the Hydrogen, with picometer bound distance. Ultra-dense hydrogen is disintegrated through annihilation to produce a controlled flux of high-energy particles for energy and electricity production. No harmful emission or hazards materials are generated from the process.


    Not true - if they generate muons, then they will get muonic catalysed fusion and all the known nasties expected from this. I don't think they can easily prevent that, but I suppose I might be wrong.


    A major milestone and technological break-through was reached August 2017 with consistently high flux of high energetic particles being produced from our reactor, ie., producing high amounts of energy. Experimental reactors are presently allocated as a multiple test validation reactors and for testing direct electricity conversion. Test demonstration systems with Muon production are in operation at several facilities in Norway as well as Sweden.


    The issue is whether the energy out is > the energy in in these systems. If the muon generation much more efficient energetically than other systems? Or are they just hoping that increased efficiency can be found on the basis of Holmlid's dubious theoretical claims?

  • They seem credible enough I'm not surprised somone is willing to gamble.


    The gamble with ITER is take the casino for 40 Billions now in total. All based on the fringe claim that inside the sun kinetic fusion is happening...


    May be THH can point us to the measured solar neutrons spectra that originate from the ITER like fusion path...

  • Its all happening then, purely relying on Holmlid's discovery of a cheap way of generating -muons.

    What's important from these numbers is that fact that on average a muon will not initiate more than 100 catalytic acts in a d-t mixture and not more than a dozen in pure liquid deuterium. Using this fact, with an estimated energy cost per muon at 10 GeV and only 1.7 GeV produced with 100 dt fusions, the amount of energy gained is a net negative. Jackson and Alvarez exchanged a series of letters discussing these results, which demonstrated that indeed a µCF reactor would not be able to be sustainable. Jackson shortly after published a paper that made clear the steps he took to make each calculation and ever since has been quite consistent with the experimental results. [7]

    So now Holmlid comes along with his muon generator and makes what Jackson and Alvarez proposed years ago now possible generating a muon with only keV energy?

    Efficient muon generators have been a target for many years exactly because everyone knows they would make for very easy practical fusion.


    If Holmlid had such a device it would be a very big deal. Front page science news and a major technological shift with everyone jumping on it. However, if he did, I would expect more noise from him and/or Norront.


    The rest mass of a muon is 106MeV, so generating them for a cost of a few keV seems highly unlikely.

    1) I had not noticed this was a fringe claim.

    2) ITER fusion (or more interestingly Tokomak Energy fusion) explores a different energy regime from the sun - much hotter in order to get decent energy density.

    Totally exact (different energy regime) : But that's not their communication... The problem is that the kinetic H-H fusion reaction never could be reproduced...
