Rossi: The final chapter

  • The problem is, Barty, that Rossi isn't thinking like someone who is healthy. He has inventor's syndrome. This totally changes someone's perceptions about the world and their motivations. You are absolutely right that he could make a fortune if he would come forward with his technology. However, he doesn't want to make millions or even hundreds of millions. He wants to dominate the industry and make hundreds of billions of dollars. But Rossi is not the first example of someone who has came down with this horrible disease. Patterson is another example. He admitted that if he couldn't dominate the industry he didn't want his technology to emerge at all! Rossi has struggled through great hardships in his life and in his mind this has earned him the right to totally control the LENR market.

I am convinced that multiple versions of his technology did work - not saying that Rossi didn't manipulate the results of certain tests to achieve false results to further his agenda - and that some versions have been replicated. For example, there were multiple teams that saw results from the Ni-LiAlH4 combination. I can't remember all of the names now, but people Songsheng Jiang and others produced excess heat with the combination.

When it comes to the latest systems, they are fundamentally (although structurally different) to devices such as the Pulsed Abnormal Glow Discharge device of Paulo Correa, the Self Generating Discharge Tube of Alexander Chernetsky, the Suncell of Randell Mills, and multiple others. The commonality is that he is using the negative resistance regime to produce a complex space charge or macro-EVO. This is the root of most LENR phenomena and exotic energy systems going back a hundred years. I do NOT claim or suggest that Rossi is completely accurately reporting his energy input vs. output with the QX/SK, but I think it's highly likely that he is getting good results.

  • Oh wow! Rossi is an obvious con man who defrauded poor Focardi when Focardi was old, weak and ailing. He never had anything other than tricks. He never did the same trick twice. He has never accomplished anything provable during his life other than lies. He is a despicable human being and deservedly, a convicted felon. Lewan never required Rossi to do a few simple and obvious tests (such as calibration and blanks) which could have revealed the scam except that Rossi would not have done them. Several "Swedish scientists" were equally inept in making Rossi test his deceptive devices correctly. That is the entire story of Rossi and Lewan. There is no Rossi effect. There never was and there isn't now. The idea that competition would be inhibiting Rossi is hogwash because Rossi could have patented any discovery and allied himself with large companies to protect the patent. I can't believe we are still arguing about this crook after all these years of identical stories from him, all without anything whatever delivered. Rossi should be a study in how easily some scientists and technologists can be fooled.

  • The good news is that it doesn't matter that Rossi will never commercialize any of his technologies - we know how they all worked.

The good news is that it doesn't matter that Rossi will never commercialize any of his technologies - we know how they all worked.

Because of Darden's and Woodford's lack of diligence in testing Rossi, they all worked fine for the guy, who ended up with >$10M (-legal costs) of undeserved cash.

Remember that Rossi's early devices were made of rusty junk with crude large tools by a 90 old plumber. Considering that level of sophistication, if you, @Director, or anyone else knows how to make a working version, why are you not a billionaire by now? Rossi's original ecats were thrown together in 2011!

  • I would say that as long as the seals held, Mizuno's current experiment is not too fundamentally different than Rossi's early experiments. The one big difference is that he is using mesh and Rossi used powder.

If Mizuno's current experiment is really like Rossi's, Mizuno will be in big trouble as soon as replications begin to be tested. Assuming, of course, that they are properly tested. BTW, another difference you may want to note is that Mizuno uses precision made and instrumented equipment while Rossi used deceptive junk. And Rossi lied about essentially everything. I am sure we don't need Rossi's huge catalog of lies rewritten here. Everyone should know them well by now. Far as we know, Mizuno does not lie. Just another minor difference for @Director to consider.

  • The problem is, Barty, that Rossi isn't thinking like someone who is healthy. He has inventor's syndrome.

There is no such syndrome as you are describing. What is being exhibited here is Rationalization, a classic syndrome well documented by psychologist for well over 100 years. Please read the explanation on Wiki and try to analyze your belief in Rossi and your excuses why he can't succeed, with the facts and the description of rationalization. From Wiki "In psychology and logic, rationalization or rationalisation (also known as making excuses) is a defense mechanism in which controversial behaviors or feelings are justified and explained in a seemingly rational or logical manner to avoid the true explanation"

  • Inventor's Syndrome does indeed exist. Jed Rothwell will tell you for certain that Patterson had it. Jed actually tested Patterson's system and proved that it was working producing significant excess heat. But Patterson told him he'd rather nothing happen with the technology if he couldn't dominate the market. He, like Rossi, was playing games by performing sloppy demonstrations with barely adequate equipment to make sure he did not attract too much attention. Patterson didn't want competitors to realize his tech was real and start attempting to replicate.

What I'm saying is truth and what you are doing is nothing but flat out trolling, either voluntarily or paid like the son of perdition, Mary Yugo.

  • If everyone who thinks rationally and believes that Rossi has nothing and says so is a troll, then that doesn't leave very many non-trolls to post here, and far fewer percentage in the real world. We should rename humanity "trollmanity".

If we stop Rossi trolls from posting, every thread would be like that historical pro-Rossi thread filled with nonsense. But I guess it doesn't matter because we are well along in the "Industrialization" of the e-cat so us "rock and trollers" are being shown to be morons by every highly satisified secret customer, and all of Rossi's great team that have no LinkedIn accounts or names apparently. I wonder how they like working out of his condo.

P.S. I saw this video a while back, and I can't find it now, where one of Rossi's "team" during the IH days, was giving an interview about how satisfied their customer was. This was the customer that Rossi admitted in depositions was himself. This guy was lying through his teeth. I wish I could find out who that jerks was and see if he is working after that debacle. To have people see stuff like that and still believe in Rossi is hard to fathom without a psychological explanation.

    • Official Post

IMO, the Rossi believers can let go of the dream. LENR has many other individuals, and groups who want their support, and undivided attention. They would be more than happy to have just a fraction of the admiration lavished on him. Imagine how it feels for them...after he got away with what he did, what he continues to get away with, yet is admired, while they are toiling away hardly noticed.

  • I have no dream about Rossi's technology ever doing anything but languishing in his lab - or perhaps his kitchen. However, I know that his technology is real and works. What I was to see people do is use the knowledge we have gained about his systems to produce their own experiments which can show massive excess heat. To a certain extent this is already taking place with Mizuno's experiment, since he is using palladium on nickel. However, I also would like to see more people build and test devices that utilize the negative resistance regime of a plasma discharge to produce a complex space charge (macro-EVO). Such a system could produce massive excess heat in addition to light and electricity. Also, it should spray out longitudinal waves and strange radiation that could be detected.

He has had a role, and as of yet it is still to be determined if it was good or bad overall. I tend to think good, because he brought Silicon Valley investment into the field, and sparked new research that may eventually come to fruition.

We will let history decide, but IMO he stole that tech from Piantelli...not that it means anything since he has this Inventors Syndrome, and is going nowhere with it. And Piantelli is doing well, and back in the game thankgoodness. At his age, that is remarkable, and more power to him. Must be that Mediterranean Diet. :) Maybe he will have the last laugh?

If you really believe someone or an organization is paying to have Rossi disparaged, please, I beg you, send me their contact information. I will gladly pay you any reasonable finder or agent fee from any proceeds I receive. And I am only too happy to disparage Rossi!

I know you are not much of a reader,

You know no such thing. While I often leave remarks about the issue go unchallenged and even joke about it sometimes, I am an avid reader. I have also written numerous technical reports, internal reports, and have authored or co-authored more than a dozen contributions to the scientific literature. However, I have little patience for overly complicated, obscure, unclear, convoluted papers intended more to fulfill requirements for internal documentation and less to inform anyone not already familiar with the field and with the specific topic. When I have contributed to technical papers, I made sure that there was enough simple and clear material in them that the intent and results could be grasped by virtually anyone with some ability in science and technology who had an interest in the specific topic. It is rarely if ever necessary to aim papers just at top specialists in the field. If you want to see examples of how complex topics can be written about understandably, yet be useful to "pro's" read Richard Feynman or Edward Teller or many others.

    Anyway, thanks for the link.
