Two stillborn babies in Israel from mothers infected with COVID-19 have also tested positive for the coronavirus — with at least one of the deaths blamed on the contagion, according to a report.

A woman in her 36th week of pregnancy lost her unborn child at the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba Saturday after falling sick with COVID-19, the Times of Israel said.

Tests showed that the fetus was also infected, but the hospital did not immediately blame the pandemic for the death.

However, it was declared the likely cause of death in an almost identical case last week when a 29-year-old woman lost her child in the 25th week of pregnancy in Ashdod, the outlet said.

“The fetus was infected through the placenta and with a very high degree of certainty, [we can say] died due to coronavirus,” Dr. Tal Brosh, head of the Infectious Disease Department at the Assuta Hospital, told Ynet news.

Question....... Are covid positive patients enrolling n trials being compensated. These drug trials are only conducted in hospital setting, with hospitals being compensated as well as being provided the drug for free, yet the patient is charged for the drug as well as the administration of the drug. Under normal circumstances participants in drug trials are compensated as they were for vaccine trials. Some of the patients in trials have died. Has the families recieved any compensation?

Covid-19 Cases Are Rising Again Globally

After a period of decline, we are now seeing a rise in Covid-19 cases globally and in the U.S. According to WHO, there was a daily increase of 84,383 cases globally as of February 25, 2021, bringing the total number of current global confirmed cases to 421,406. (Figure 1). John Hopkins is reporting 77,804 new cases in the US as of February 25, 2021. This demonstrates a steady increase from the 55,195 new cases reported in the U.S. on February 21, 2021, as seen in the chart below (Figure 2). A disturbing trend that should caution us against the complacency that some governors are showing by rolling back state Covid-19 restrictions

As I have written in prior columns for Forbes, the increase in cases is likely due to the spread of the highly transmissible UK B.1.1.7, South African B.1.351, and Brazil P.1 variants. These dangerous variants have shown evidence of increased viral load which is associated with increased disease severity and mortality.

The next wave is rolling expect 4-5 weeks of rising cases before we see covid give us a summer break but m sure covid will visit next September!
