    A 43-year-old woman from New York lost a tooth after sensing it was loose. The tooth just flew out of her mouth one day without warning. There was no pain or blood. The woman had been experiencing Long COVID after surviving an infection in the spring. Her other symptoms included brain fog, muscle ache, and nerve pain.

    Nope. By coincidence, the pandemic happened to hit New York first, before the doctors and public health experts learned how to deal with it.     You don't want to be hospitalized for this at any age. It is very painful. Very dangerous and frightening. It is the last line of defense. Georgia Gov. Kemp says (in effect) let's not take any steps to prevent this because there is plenty of room at the hospitals. There is a gigantic disconnect between what he says and what the doctors, nurses and patients say. Or what I say, having been hospitalized for pneumonia 20 years ago. You don't want to experience that, if you can possibly avoid it. The discomfort of wearing a mask is nothing in comparison.


    The disconnect has also been revealed in Japan, where doctors and nurses are telling people the situation is terrible, but the federal government is issuing mealy-mouthed assurances that things are okay and a pretend two-week pause will fix the problem -- a problem we don't actually have but anyway it will go away. So, who are you going to believe? Doctors? Or politicians? Granted, their politicians are nowhere near as bad as Trump or our idiot Gov. Kemp, but if it had been up to them, Japan would have far more cases and deaths. Fortunately, public pressure forced the politicians there to leave the decisions up to the experts up until now. In the U.S. Kushner bragged that "we are getting the country back from the doctors." It turns out that massive illness and deaths on the scale of WWII are bad for the economy, and that stopping the illness is the only way to save the economy. Who knew?!?

    Stop worrying about it! Chill out. Our Gov. Kemp already told you there is plenty of room in the hospitals. There are plenty of dentists who will be happy to implant new teeth after yours fall out. Brain fog? Not a problem! Hire someone to help you take a shower and put on your socks. It won't cost much and it will only last the rest of your life. Probably. Many of the severe cases of "long haul" illness are at age 40, so that's another 40 years or so of medical care. You can afford that! And if you can't, go live under a bridge. Most personal bankruptcy in the U.S. is caused by the obscene cost of medical care.


    Most of the people who die are elderly. Most are over 60, and who needs them? They are expendable. The long haulers are also expendable. Also, 22 million people who are not getting enough food? And all those kids who can't go to school because our federal and state governments have done nothing to control the pandemic? Expendable! Why should we give a damn about little kids not getting educated, or people getting thrown out of their houses, or people who can't get enough to eat, or people with brain fog and teeth falling out of their mouths?     I have never been into pointing fingers at people getting infected, and shaming them because they happen to live in a blue state, or red state. Most of those dying are old and feeble, and under the care of others.They could not help it. So it has nothing to do with red/blue, or politics...but all about the virus to me.

    Im not quite sure about where you live but everywhere I go people ARE wearing masks, bars and restaurants included. It is a small minority that don't listen and as usual it's Trump kemp Republicans. I supported Trump, didn't mean I wouldn't wear a mask but your posts are nothing more than stereotyping and I for one am sick of it!!!

    It has EVERYTHING to with red/blue politics. Democratic policies in New York state and elsewhere have reduced the infection and death rate by a factor of 10.     Now let's look at this. In January the nation was wrapped up in impeachment. In early February that came to an end and we started hearing about the virus and it was already spreading.Trump wanted mass testing and went out and bought 6 million tests. Damn chinese they didn't work. Next the CDC tests come out and opps 70% false positives so a few weeks later the CDC puts out it's new test. Damn again 30% false negatives. Finally the end of March and we have a test.but will it be enough to get the spread under control. Nope! Next Trump talks hydroxychloroquine and the media went wild, stealing the narrative and now is the sole judge on what treatments patients should be getting. One CNN host went as far as saying it should be a crime against humanity for even mentioning hydroxychloroquine. Masks were for sick people no need for healthy people. Some say it was because of a shortage, maybe but then we are told to wear them but not cloth. A week later ok cloth masks. No treatment for outpatient care wIt till your ready to die and come on down to the iicu. Ya it's polical and yes even the experts have been wrong. But as someone pointed out there are no experts on covid 19. So go ahead Jed feel good about yourself plenty of blame all around.

    The whole nation was not wrapped up in the impeachment. Trump may have been, but the public health experts in the government were not. They were doing their jobs. Korea, China, Greece and Canada, avoided the worst of the pandemic. Their economies are intact. Their casualties are 30 to 100 times lower than ours.

    I do not think these were from China. The CDC did make a big mistake on the tests. The thing is, when a government agency screws up in a way that will kill thousands of people, the administration is supposed to take prompt action. The Trump administration did nothing.

    CNN hosts do not make federal public health policy. They did not reject Kushner's recommendations. If we had done what Kushner recommended, hydroxychloriquine would not be needed, except for a few thousand people, assuming it works.

    Yes, and they are taking aggressive steps to reduce that. Even closing the schools again. Fortunately, deaths are much lower than they were at first, and have not risen in proportion to new cases. The per capita infection rate for the last several months is lower than Georgia and Florida, and much lower than N. and S. Dakota, which are the worst in the nation.

    The per capita rates of infection and death at the beginning of the pandemic were the worst in New York. Anyone can see that. After case tracking was finally implemented, under the direction of Johns Hopkins, the rates fell dramatically. In a sane country with a working federal government, the Johns Hopkins methods would have been implemented nationwide by the end of March. Modern case tracking needs an internet data processing infrastructure. In China, S. Korea and Japan, experts put this infrastructure together in a few weeks. Companies such as Google could have provided this easily. The Federal government should have ordered them to do it immediately, under the Defense Production Act. (Under this act, the government promises to pay whether the goods and services are used or not. There is no risk for the company.)

    That is nonsense. Case tracking, warning people, and quarantine stop the pandemic. They have worked in Korea and other countries. They will work anywhere. The virus will not spread when the proper public health steps are taken.
