“This is one of the few potential medications we can offer COVID patients who aren’t hospitalized,” said Dr. Martin Topiel, Virtua Health’s chief of infectious diseases, who runs the monoclonal antibody program there. He said it seems effective at preventing mild to moderate symptoms from progressing to the point where the person has to be hospitalized.
“It seems to be effective when we can reach patients early in their symptoms, because they haven’t yet produced their own native antibodies,” he said. “We’re supplying a lab-made antibody protein for them as a replacement, and that’s why catching them early is beneficial.”
Under the emergency use authorization, the monoclonal antibodies are only available to those at high risk for severe COVID-19 illness, including those over 65 or with underlying conditions like diabetes and hypertension.

The other scenario is a virus that produces 10% more load by a better replication/Escape function. In the first case more people will get mild infection, where as in the second case more people would get sick faster.
From this it is easy to see that we see both behavior at work.

You missed the point on h9n2 it has the potential to become pandemic and I hope you are right on that 10 percent but based on data coming from UK it looks much more infectious. That shouldn't be the main concern. With all the different vaccines being deployed, most requiring booster, and in some countries now skipping the boosters to get more first jabs, are we creating a virus resistant to lower dose vaccinations and able to evade

We had the same high infection rate as UK with the lame virus... Belgium, Czech republic were even higher!
The worst thing you can do to spread the (death from) virus is a dilettante lock down. For this we have strong data evidence. E.g. children staying at home will face much more (2x in short time here) infections. All this with no fantasies about a faster virus...I did closely follow real live cases something what most experts did never do!
Germany is the best example how you can maximize death from CoV-19!
Thus take at least daily 2000 IU's VD-3 for some weeks, add zinc (50mg for two weeks then larger interval or smaller dose ). Get working drugs (Ivermectin,Sutherlandia,Nigella Sativa, -orange juice/ Hesperidin) to treat yourself as the hospitals very likely (50%) will kill you. And buy some FP98 masks that currently are the only chance to protect you from a high dose!

The data only shows that most if not all the most recent mutations point to being more infectious but mortality remains the same and with better in-hhospital treatment that mortality dropping. But the fact is, more infections will lead to more deaths. One more thing, more children will be infected, bringing it home to infect their fat ass out of shape parents and grandparents, thus more dying.

The out of control spread of the virus in many countries (except the few that have managed to contain it) gives an increased chance for the virus to mutate. So the risk of failure to contain the virus is three-fold, lives lost, economies damaged, and virus mutations with risk of a more deadly virus.
On the other hand using vaccines provides a biological barrier to the virus that evolutionary pressures will present pressures for the virus to adapt to.
So what to do?
I personally do not have the expertise to judge but I bet Jed would say we have no real choice but to rely on the vaccines.

This is wrong for CoV-19 as you cannot protect mucosa against external virus excess by a vaccine. You can prevent the virus to spread over the blood vessels.
