  • Very deceiving as the most at risk have already died

Where did you get that number? What fraction of "the most" have died? How vulnerable are the remaining people?

Reportedly, there are 1.4 million people in the U.S. living in nursing homes. Elsewhere it says 39% of COVID deaths have been in nursing homes, so that's 195,000 deaths, or 14% of nursing home residents. No doubt that includes many especially vulnerable people, but not all. Furthermore, a new group of people becomes vulnerable every year in a nursing home. To be blunt, they do not last for long.

I do not think you would see that dramatic curve that began to fall immediately after vaccinations began if the main cause was most of the vulnerable patients already dying. That would be an unlikely coincidence.

I do not think it is "deceiving." I think your analysis was wrong.

  • You didn't bother to research Jed. In the past year nursing home occupancy is down by over 10% due to death, removal, and no takers. If I followed your logic then masks do not prevent transmission of the virus as 195,000 nursing home residents were attended to by mask wearing professionals as the general public were banned from visiting.

  • CDC study finds nursing home residents who appear to have recovered from Covid were reinfected with an even worse case

    https://news.google.com/articl…=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen

    KEY POINTS

A new CDC study published Thursday suggests some people may be susceptible to reinfection from the coronavirus and could have worse outcomes following their second infection.

Reinfection means that a person was infected with the virus, recovered and then later became infected again, though it's thought to be rare, according to the CDC.

The new study found five nursing home residents tested positive during two separate outbreaks with multiple negative tests in between, suggesting they were reinfected with the virus.

A new CDC study found that some elderly people who apparently recovered from the coronavirus later came down with a second, even worse case — indicating that asymptomatic or mild cases may not provide a lot of protection against becoming reinfected with Covid-19.

The study, published Thursday in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, studied two separate outbreaks that occurred three months apart at a skilled nursing facility in Kentucky. Between mid-July and mid-August, 20 residents and five health-care personnel tested positive for the virus, according to the study.

  • Had the WHO endorsed early treatment this would not be a discussion. Early treatment would have ended this pandemic 9 months ago and there would be no long haulers!!!

Debilitating 'long-COVID' may have severe health, social impacts - WHO

LONDON, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Thousands of COVID-19 patients continue to suffer serious, debilitating and lingering symptoms many months after their initial bout of infection, with major social, health and economic consequences, European health experts said on Thursday.

Publishing a World Health Organization-led guidance report on the condition, often referred to as "long COVID" or "post-COVID syndrome", experts said around one in 10 COVID-19 patients are still unwell 12 weeks after their acute infection, and many suffer symptoms for far longer.

"This is a condition that can be extremely debilitating. Those suffering from it describe a varying combination of overlapping symptoms... (including) chest and muscle pain, fatigue, shortness of breath ... brain fog (and) many others," said Martin McKee, a professor at the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies who led the report.

Hans Kluge, the WHO's European regional director, said long-COVID could have "severe social, economic, health and occupational consequences".

"The burden is real and it is significant," he said.

He urged health authorities to listen to patients' concerns, take them seriously, and establish services to help them.

Growing evidence from around the world points to many thousands of people experiencing long-COVID. The condition appears not to be linked to whether a patient had a severe or mild infection.

An initial report by Britain's National Institute for Health Research last year suggested long-COVID may be not one condition, but multiple syndromes causing a rollercoaster of symptoms affecting the body and mind.

Kluge noted that as with any new disease, much remains unknown about COVID-19.

"We need to listen and ... understand. The sufferers of post-COVID conditions need to be heard if we are to understand the long-term consequences and recovery from COVID-19," he said. "This is a clear priority for WHO (and) it should be for every health authority." (Additional reporting by Stephanie Nebehay in Geneva. Editing by Nick Macfie)

Since ~14% died from COVID-19, they must have gained 4% from somewhere. A large percent of people in nursing homes die every year anyway. I suppose some of the ones who died from COVID would have died from something else. Perhaps fewer died from influenza, which is way down this year, because people are taking so many precautions to prevent COVID.

If I followed your logic then masks do not prevent transmission of the virus as 195,000 nursing home residents were attended to by mask wearing professionals as the general public were banned from visiting.

I do not follow what you mean. It makes no sense, and it does not seem to have anything to do with the article. Of course masks reduce the transmission. But of course they do not prevent it completely. Anyone can see that. Many doctors and nurses have gotten sick or died from COVID-19, even though they all wear masks.

You are assuming that early treatment works. Many experts agree with you, but others do not. I wouldn't know, but I think you should not be so sure you are right.

If it were obvious that some method of early treatment was effective, I suppose most doctors would know about it. They learned about many new or improved methods of treatment for people who got sick. For example, they know that putting patients on the stomachs can be a big help -- even saving lives. Because doctors have been willing to learn new lessons, the case mortality rate has fallen by about half. So, they are willing to learn, and they have improved treatment a lot. Why do you think they are not willing to learn early treatment methods?

I guess the 3,000 signatures of front line doctors involved with the FLCCC don't count as to ivermectin nor the studys, doctors prescribe what some salesmen tell them is the latest and greatest ignoring established drugs today vaccine is the latest and greatest right from the beginning. You choose to believe that's the right way, I disagree and the 505,000 dead americans would too. Treat early, treat often and treat all, ivermectin works, hydroxychloroquine works, nigela sativa works, Sutherlandia works. Vitamin D works and the list goes on. Just no money for big pharma that's to be made with vaccines

  • Researchers find worrying new coronavirus variant in New York City

Almost a quarter of coronavirus patients are suffering hair loss within six months of getting infected, a new study has found.

The worst criminals (Free masons/ Rotary) since WWII Auschwitz camp are ruling the world wide pharma sector and block the use of Ivermectin. Only countries with no choice like Bulgaria,Slovakia, Peru, so far did fully opt in. I hope that the Millions of victims will turn their heads a bring this scoundrel at least behinds bars.

Toda's (Free masons/ Rotary) are cricket brains if they don't understand that once teh truth will bring them down.

2:10 p.m. India reports 16,738 cases in the last 24 hours -- the highest daily spike in nearly a month -- bringing the country total to 11.05 million. Deaths rose by 138 to 156,705.

Sorry: He we talk of noise on a very low case count India has a population of 1.4 bio. 4x USA. So any "local" event can give a +-10k raise/fall.

Here we see the same as in many other places: 3 days of no reduction and the worrying press starts the attack again. Third wave , fourth wave but we have 7 death a day about the suicide level....and with ivermectin the story would be over in 3 weeks.

not a believer in hope simpson? Next wave is brewing and it's coming, you said the same thing last august when cases were falling. And it will be the 5th wave in the US. March, june, September, and December. Hmmmmmmmm seasonal equinox must just be a coincidence

  • After weeks of sharp declines, new Covid-19 cases are beginning to flatten

    https://news.google.com/articl…=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen

(CNN)After six straight weeks of declines in new Covid-19 cases in the US, that number has started to plateau, even as hospitalizations and deaths continue to drop.

The 7-day average of daily new cases was just over 72,000 on Wednesday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, a total that is relatively unchanged from last Thursday. Compare those numbers to the previous Thursday, February 11, when the US averaged about 102,000 new cases per day.

Experts say it is too soon to tell whether this one-week flattening represents a small blip or the beginning of a broader issue.

I've been watching this and have been wondering the same thing," Dr. Ashish Jha, dean of the Brown University School of Public Health, told CNN on Thursday. "We have not seen widespread increases, but there is that flattening. We'll have to monitor this closely. The other thing we have to track is how the new variant is doing and whether that's part of the reason."

Getting infection numbers down now not only will help prevent the virus from further mutating but it will also give vaccines a better shot at remaining effective.

Meanwhile, new Covid-19 deaths and hospitalizations, which trail several weeks behind cases, have continued to sharply decline. And the two vaccines approved in the US have shown extraordinary success in limiting severe Covid-19, making the race to vaccinate so important.

Most Severe COVID Tied to Four Cardiometabolic Conditions

    https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/946488

The majority of COVID-19 hospitalizations in the United States are attributable to four preexisting cardiometabolic conditions, a new study suggests.

The authors estimate that among the 906,849 total COVID-19 hospitalizations that had occurred among US adults as of November 2020, 30% were attributable to obesity; 26% to hypertension; 21% to diabetes; and 12% to heart failure.

From the data, the investigators estimate that almost two thirds (63.5%) of the hospitalizations were attributable to these cardiometabolic conditions and that those hospitalizations would have been preventable had those conditions not been present.

They estimate that a 10% reduction in these four cardiometabolic conditions would potentially have prevented 11.1% of COVID-19 hospitalizations.

The authors believe more should be done to promote healthy lifestyle measures to improve overall cardiometabolic health and potentially minimize the risk for severe COVID-19.

2 Israeli men in their 20s die of COVID-19 in a day

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/…die-of-covid-19-in-a-day/

Two Israeli men in their twenties with no preexisting health conditions died of COVID-19 within hours of each other on Thursday.

Ghazi Zoabi, 23, from the northern city of Nazareth, collapsed in his home and was hospitalized in critical condition. Doctors later pronounced his death

He had received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to Hebrew media reports.

Another man, 26, who was not identified, died earlier Thursday in Jerusalem. The resident of Ras al-Amud was brought to Hadassah Mount Scopus hospital in serious condition, where he tested positive for the virus. He died in the hospital.

Neither man was reported to have any underlying health conditions

  • Covid-19 vaccines may give you antibodies that prevent you entering China

    https://news.google.com/articl…=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen

In November, China started to insist inbound passengers produce evidence of testing negative for the antibody immunoglobulin M (IgM) – usually the first type of antibody produced against virus infection – along with a negative Covid-19 test taken within 48 hours before boarding. Chinese embassies in the departure country assess this documentation and, if satisfied, issue a green health code via a mobile app to clear the way to board a flight. Zhou took the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine early last month and planned to fly to China from Dallas two weeks later. He filed his positive IgM antibody test result to a Chinese embassy in the US together with a document proving he had taken his first vaccine dose, hoping it would be taken into consideration. He did not receive the green code.

  • The Pandemic Has Been a Windfall for Billionaires

American billionaires are the biggest winners of the coronavirus pandemic

    https://news.google.com/articl…=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen.

But here's another number that is certainly eyebrow-raising: $4.2 trillion. That's the combined wealth of America's 664 billionaires as the one-year anniversary of the pandemic's assault on America nears. Not that they were suffering beforehand, but that number is 44%, or $1.3 trillion, more than just a year ago.

The numbers are courtesy of an analysis by Americans for Tax Fairness and the Institute for Policy Studies based on data from Forbes. And it is a stark reflection of the way in which this recession has been a tale of haves and have nots.

  • Ukraine faces almost 40% jump in new daily COVID-19 cases

    https://news.yahoo.com/amphtml…st-40-jump-071403234.html

(Reuters) - Ukraine has registered an almost 40% jump in new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said, just as the country starts its COVID-19 inoculation.

A total of 8,147 cases were registered on Wednesday, the highest figure since mid-January when the number of new cases stood at 8,199, Stepanov said on Facebook. There were 5,850 new cases as of Feb. 24.

The ministry's data show most of the new cases were registered in the western part of the country and in the capital Kyiv. The country has registered a total of 1,325,841 cases with 25,596 deaths from COVID-19 as of Feb. 25.
