  • Research on Zika conspiracies! : We find that elevated levels of conspiracy thinking are correlated with both concern over Zika and belief in Zika-related conspiracy theories. For example, a person scoring the maximum on the conspiratorial thinking scale is estimated to believe in .61 Zika conspiracy theories while a person scoring the minimum is estimated to believe in only .06 Zika conspiracy theories.

Not quite surprisingly even the Nature study didn't mention this simple map: Zika distribution closely matched GMO mosquitoes (source). What we should think about the rest of study, after then? The tendency to deny instead of investigate belongs into signs of pathological skepticism. In particular because another study show, there's nothing wacky about conspiracy theorists: Their doubts are is rooted in evolution – not ignorance. They're just not biased by financial interests of researchers and companies involved in research.

  • That herd has some bulls in it, and they are pisssssed off at the idiots making noise by the fence.

Two weeks ago I was walking our dog at the shores of Lake Ontario in Toronto. Great boardwalk, parks, weather. Not too many people out though. A couple in their 50s was sitting alone on a park bench about 70 metres from anyone else, except for myself who was passing through and a bylaw officer who approached them. They were asked to leave. So they did, partly because they risked a steep fine. (I caught up with them afterwards and asked about happened.) There is something very wrong with this picture. I envy the reasonableness of the Swedes.

Indeed. I supported the social distancing and stay-at-home orders. I started that myself a week before it was ordered in my state (Illinois) after seeing what was happening in Italy and calculating the exponential. But our blue state governor does not understand how things are different in the sparsely populated regions. He shut down all the state parks and DNR managed properties because some in the cities were attending these and not using social distancing. The result is that people cannot go hiking, fishing, hunting or camping. We pretty much socially distance in these parks during normal times. For the next month, he opened up a few parks to throw people a bone, but the end result is likely to be people crowding in to the few parks that are open. The nearest one to me that is open is an hour away. Sound safe? Does this sound like a good idea for mental health?

  • THHuxleynew do you agree now with robert bryant that the VA report is a load of garbage? Their politically/big pharma motivated study will be believed by clinicians working to save people's lives in our NHS and internationally even up to the level of the WHO. Do they realise how many people they have therefore directly or indirectly put to death by such irresponsible behaviour by depriving them of a potent anti viral medicine? Culpable genocide? To what extent can they blame the inane press reporting? Ultimately unless they publish a retraction within a few days the authors should all be rounded up and charged with murder one and any pharma companies backing their research permanently put out of business. I don't believe this was some innocent mistake in interpreting the data by some well-meaning scientists. Pure unadulterated Resident Evil!

4 US prisons. 96% of inmates that test positive have no symptoms.

So is this likely to be a different strain from the one in New York?

Anyone else thinking that all the latest testing is suggesting that the virus has already made the rounds through the US, and probably European, populations? By that, I mean that at one time or another, almost everyone has already been exposed to the virus. Their bodies reacted, by either never developing antibodies (which implies a very large % have an inherent resistance against), or did develop antibodies, but never got sick. The remainder are those who got sick.

Conclusion - the AMA are a bunch of idiots? Or have zero integrity?:)

The AMA is no doubt the most political of the doctors groups. They first put their finger to the wind to see which way it is blowing, and then go in that direction. Almost always blows to the left BTW. :) That is one of the reasons the specialists (Cardiology/OB/Internal Med, etc.) left it, to form their own separate "Colleges", which are much less political..although not immune from it.

Interesting to hear you are from Illinois, my current residence.

Yes, my business property borders the Hennepin Canal State Park. A canal built in the late 1800's that is now a hiking and biking trail along it's 75 mile length.

This state park has no meeting houses, no commons areas, just a 75 mile long trail for hiking and biking and the canal for canoeing / kayaking and fishing. You can go for an hour and not see another person. If you do, you move to opposite sides of the trail and you are well over six feet apart.

Yet, this park has been closed since the beginning of the travel ban and specifically not opened with Pritzker's latest orders. Yet the recreational Pot (cannabis) stores were deemed essential and have never been closed! Interesting if not co-incidental, that the Canal Park is in a "Red" congressional district! Our county has a total of 32 Covid19 cases and zero deaths. The counties around us are similar. Yet this part remains closed! Coincidence? I think not.

Local area hospitals have been closing floors, laying off nurses and staff, canceling supply orders all because elective procedures were banned.. all of which drive the main revenue for the hospitals. Our hospitals are not over run with Covid cases... they have none and they are actually closing due to lack of patients. The governor just now opened up for some elective procedures..... along with dog grooming stores.... yet one cannot take a hike along our canal park... oh yes.. you can still go purchase your recreational drugs... Of course if you are high, you will not care what the governor does!

It is a bad problem. It is hard to run a state. Yet this governor is one of the first to complain about the POTUS..... oh and yes, Illinois is now pushing to have 10 BILLION dollars put in the next Covid relief bill to fund Illinois' long standing Government Pension Debt problem! Truly related to Covid pandemic. :cursing:

  • Do they realise how many people they have therefore directly or indirectly put to death by such irresponsible behaviour by depriving them of a potent anti viral medicine? Culpable genocide?

Corona is only the tip of the iceberg. Viox, Opiates as pain relievers, Statins that destroy your organs and induce dementia. Depriving people of the most effective drugs like Praziquantel and Ivermectin - now needed again - Forbidden to sell apricot kernels (Amygdalin) that help do fight very early stages of cancer like cell degeneration by inducing apotheosis . Selling antibiotics to pig & chicken farmers and even for plant treating (apple trees in Europe) !!!

Now they would like to have the total control over the 21st century medical check-pot. But we are lucky. The virus doesn't need droplets to spread. It flies airborne and already did caused a very high number of soft infections that make most people immune. Only the usual folks will need a vaccine - whenever. But just giving them classic corona would work too for a reasonable immune reaction.

Also good: Thanks to covid-19 We know how pervert the medical leaders (WHO CDC etc.) are. But countries like US will be unable to force a follow up change as most people do not understand how the system works. Poor ants...

Forget about tracking & vaccinations. This is the monsters cure that certainly has not the intention to help you. As said death rate age < 18 is close to "0". Some anecdotal cases only. Why are schools closed?? Death rate age < 65 smaller than 0.01% = 1/10 of a flue. Overall 5x less deaths if Ivermectin would be used for severe cases and no victim trial are anymore done with pharma mafia promoted drugs!

Looks like stem cell companies are trying to get in on the COVID-19 act. Are companies like Pluristem sincere or is this a stock-raising exercise?

There is always one more fool that likes to get rid of his money...

  • As a reminder, medrxiv.org displays this on their opening page:

do you agree now with robert bryant that the VA report is a load of garbage?

Don't believe me..about the VA virus report

just read the comments... especially this one from the medrxiv editor

    Quote
Caution: Preprints are preliminary reports of work that have not been certified by peer review. They should not be relied on to guide clinical practice or health-related behavior and should not be reported in news media as established information.

    (He added the emphasis)

also this comment ..from Dr Phil Davies, Aldershot Centre For Health,UK.

"The Non-HCQ cohort had the best prognosis overall from the very start (although likely a polarized mixture of the most frail and the most promising)... and then its stats got even better when it jettisoned its sickest ventilated patients into the other 2 cohorts.

    https://www.medrxiv.org/conten…101/2020.04.16.20065920v2

Personally as a research pharmacist my experience with analysing VA medical data is that it comes from 170 facilities scattered throughout the US.. each with their own differing care standards and environments..to date there have been 6000 Covid infections and 438 deaths.. huge data... but low quality..

the country data from Costa Rica and NZ has much less variability in terms of care standards relative to the VA..of the US of A.

Nice to meet a fellow Illinoisan!

Yes, this is a problem locally as well. Businesses nearby to these parks are seriously hurting. I know they are hurting all over the place, but this is completely unnecessary. You can crowd together at Walmart, but can't go out to a place that you don't come within 6 feet of people under normal circumstances. This is very anti-science.

Yes, that was a nice maneuver. They have been mismanaging the state's finances for ages, and now try to get the federal govt to pay for it under the cover of COVID19.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN_YpFhdii4

It is well worth watching this video. Very good analysis on HCQ and the mysterious sudden appearance of serious side effects. It also has a very good analysis on comparing COVID19 with the flu. Even with the revised numbers, it is not 5x the flu. It is more like 25-40x the flu in terms of IFR. The reason is that people have been comparing the new IFR numbers to flu CFR numbers.

  • Oh yes. I long for the days when a news article was "reporting" on, and not making the news. When you could read the headline and be reasonably confident the content would support what it says, Where opinions were on the Editorial page, or listed as an "Opinion". They are all blended in together now. The way I look at this pandemic, playing on that theme of "herds"...we are the cattle, they the cowboys. They panicked the herd and started a stampede.

Sadly, I agree, and it stinks

Would the same thing happen if he told them to take cyanide? Or jump off a cliff?

    Yes,

But only the few “unhinged” would actually comply.

Jed is doing what Jed does best, spend hours combing the internet for bits and pieces and parts of useless data that support his argument.

This is exactly what “Group Think Blue” &

“Group Think Red” adherents do and they actually think it matters.

Pay NO attention to the 333,678,423 people who DIDN’T call the hotline, who did NOT consider ingesting disinfectant.

You and Bob can count me in too. Lived there from 2002-2014 to be near STL airport, where I was based for much of my commercial flying career. First in Centralia, and then Jerseyville. Still have a house in Jerseyville we can not sell, because the town (as is the state) is dying due high taxes, and hostile business climate.

Such beauty, with so much to offer. Loved hiking the hills...especially Pere Marquette State Park along the Illinois River. Could navigate every path blindfolded.

It took me 30 seconds. Try it yourself. The same thing happened in Maryland and other states. Furthermore every manufacturer of disinfectant issued warnings to the public not to ingest their products. They wouldn't do that if they did not think people might do it.

Trump said he was being sarcastic. If that were true, and he was being sarcastic, it was EXTREMELY inappropriate. This is a discussion of an epidemic that has killed 50,000 Americans. This is the president of the United States. In this situation, it is never appropriate for a president to make jokes that people might take seriously, which could result in serious harm or death.
