This interest in LENR is certainly good news. However, unless the leaders take great pains to avoid the mistakes made by other large programs, this effort will fail just like all the others. The LENR effect is complex, unusual, and requires an approach novel to conventional science. In addition, a great deal of information is available in sources that are not easy to access. Unless the mistakes and understanding these sources can reveal are correctly applied, I would have very little confidence in the success of this effort. So far, the LENR effect has been a black hole into which a large amount of money has disappeared with very little to show for the effort. My advice is to leave your ego at the door and be very careful to understand what is known before committing to any approach. .

They will redo what has been done already by many others before.
All this wasted money, as for Google's case, this is the lack of talent that is glaring once more !

I do not know how the EU group got funding after we talked about this in March. Alan knows..I think. I have some bits and pieces, a touch of the politics, and a lot of names that I am still trying to put together.
I do know that those in the group, are some of the well known European names in LENR. It should be no secret, since it is EU funded, but will leave it for them, or others to reveal themselves.

Sounds like Ultra Dense Hydrogen but than made in a much more complicated way.

SC (super conduction) with Pd is only possible/useful for very expensive equipment. The main problem is that SC cannot load very large currents and using it for transmission lines would need a very very cheap SC material.
