Is this the first time a major company is admitting they are developing a LENR product?
As far as I know it is, at least companies with this kind of business size.
They carefully avoid the term LENR and use the term "Quantum Hydrogen Energy " as provided by Clean Planet. They are also a public stock market company in Japan. Could be interesting to invest in.

Maybe Jed knows? Great news!, and thanks for posting. We needed a boost. Progress on the LENR front has been slow lately.
Curious about this from the press release:
"Quantum Hydrogen Energy is currently attracting attention globally, and large companies and investors
representing every industry are beginning full-scale participation in this field, as can be seen from the
entry of a major US IT company."
Miura is Japanese based and not an IT company, so I wonder who this US IT company is?
BTW: this should be copied to the RE: Media/News/Video Library-No discussions please Will give you the honors since you first reported.

I took it to be a reference to Google.

Probably Google, since they were already involved in LENR research.

I'd just note that at ~ 40x earnings, it's not particularly clear that that's the case. Anybody thinking of doing so should exercise appropriate caution and diligence, and be satisfied that they like the merits of the investment even if no LENR product ever emerges. All well and good to buy the steak, but don't pay for the sizzle, too.

Toyota was open about their basic research. They were not trying to make a LENR product as far as I know. On the other hand they got close. (http://lenr-canr.org/acrobat/RouletteTresultsofi.pdf) Fleischmann told me that getting close to a product precipitated a falling out with Johnson Matthey, which put an end to their research in France. As far as I know, Toyota is still doing research in Japan. Shell Oil and many others published reports about their research.
I do not know of any corporation developing a product. As far as I know, no one knows how to make a practical product. Frankly, I doubt the people at Clean Planet know. I have a low opinion of them. I don't know what they are up to, but the results they showed at MIT years ago did not impress me, and they did not impress Mizuno. I circulated a paper pointing out problems. They responded by having their lawyer write me a letter threatening to sue me. I have not taken them seriously since then. I have not been following their work. Maybe they are way ahead and I know nothing about it.
-
Interesting that they talk about using Copper as well as Nickel.
Their timeline says the Model K 1 kW is under test, and the Model M 10 kW will also be completed in the 2021-2023 timeframe.

Toyota is shareholder of Technova. See Technova's progress report at JCF21.

Iwamura / Clean Planet recently filed a patent application of several implementation concepts. Worth looking at.

It is the only shareholder, as far as I know. Technova is a fully owned subsidiary.

If it works, it may well be important. Let's wait until it is independently confirmed and replicated. You can never believe a cold fusion claim before those steps are taken.

I agree.
The fact that Miura announced co-development at least looks very promising.
-
I've waited for serious results for a third of the time Jed waited, and I'm already very cautious...
Too many times... but who knows. It will happen like The Big One... Sure it will happen, and each day make it more probable, but nobody knows when.
On the paper it looks greatly promising. I've seen that many times.

Building a 10 kW model at this stage is a stupid thing to do. Dangerous and stupid. They need to build hundreds of 1 W models and have them tested for safety in hundreds of labs and by regulatory agencies.

It would be very interesting to know how much investment Miura has contributed to Clean Planet Inc. This partnership has been brewing for a while already.

I guess none. This announcement is about an agreement for joint development of industrial boilers, not a direct investment in Clean Planet by Miura.
Clean Planet is currently too small to do this on its own, although they have several vacancies.
My guess is that they will aim to be a licencing company.
See also their mission (bottom of the page).
In return Miura might get a special licensing rate or even (an) exclusive license(s).
The development might also generate additional patents, which could be part of a license package.
An exclusive license might be e.g. for specific countries or continents to have the sole right to produce and sell "Quantum Hydrogen Energy" equipment.

Rob Woudenberg , I am referring to this part of the press release: “Following MIURA's investment in Clean Planet in May 2019, the two companies have been working in concert to make clean energy a practical reality.” This I copied directly from Miura’s site press release.

Some clarity on this was given in a joint press release by Clean Planet and Miura in May 2019.

Well, that’s the how they invested. Perhaps one can dig out the amount involved. But this is looking to me as a very strong sign of commitment.
