Curcumin Confers Anti-Inflammatory Effects in Adults Who Recovered from COVID-19 and Were Subsequently Vaccinated: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Abstract
COVID-19 infection and vaccination offer disparate levels of defense against reinfection and breakthrough infection. This study was designed to examine the effects of curcumin supplementation, specifically HydroCurc (CURC), versus placebo (CON) on circulating inflammatory biomarkers in adults who had previously been diagnosed with COVID-19 and subsequently received a primary series of monovalent vaccine doses. This study was conducted between June 2021 and May 2022. Participants were randomized to receive CURC (500 mg) or CON capsules twice daily for four weeks. Blood sampling was completed at baseline and week-4 and analyzed for biomarkers. Linear regression was utilized to examine the between-group differences in post-trial inflammatory biomarker levels, adjusting for baseline and covariates including age, sex, race/ethnicity, and interval between COVID-19 diagnosis and trial enrollment. The sample (n = 31) was 71% female (Age 27.6 ± 10.4 y). The CURC group exhibited significantly lower post-trial concentrations of proinflammatory IL-6 (β = −0.52, 95%CI: −1.03, −0.014, p = 0.046) and MCP-1 (β = −0.12, 95%CI: −0.23, −0.015, p = 0.027) compared to CON, adjusting for baseline and covariates. Curcumin intake confers anti-inflammatory activity and may be a promising prophylactic nutraceutical strategy for COVID-19. These results suggest that 4 weeks of curcumin supplementation resulted in significantly lower concentrations of proinflammatory cytokines in adults who recovered from COVID-19 infection and were subsequently vaccinated.

From the original Baric study demonstrating beta-coronavirus loading in laboratory models can cause myocarditis to the first year of the COVID-19 crisis there has been a concern that SARS-CoV-2 infection in humans could cause heart inflammation. Epidemiologic studies relying on ICD codes triggered by routine cardiac troponin testing and or results implied that hospitalized patients were developing myocarditis with the respiratory illness. None of these studies were confirmed with clinical adjudication or autopsy. In 2020 the NCAA Big Ten athletic conference, US Military, and many other organizations screened for myocarditis on clinical grounds—handful of cases were found without any reported hospitalizations or deaths. Tuvali, et al from Israel, demonstrated that myocarditis in 2020 was not any more common that the low levels of baseline myocarditis from parvovirus, giant cell, and other conditions.
Almamlouk et al performed a systematic review of 50 autopsy studies and 548 hearts of patients who died of or with COVID-19. Usual post-mortem findings of tissue edema and necrosis were reported commonly. About two thirds of hearts had SARS-CoV-2 found in the tissue. However, none of the hearts had extensive myocarditis as the cause of death.

I am sure some of you will be rolling their eyes upon reading the following article. So did I!
If it were not a waste of time, I might be inclined to write an article titled ‘Confronting the evolution and expansion of mass vaccination activism and coercion in the USA in the COVID-19 era’. A waste of time? Yes, because this cohort of academics should first read my book, to realize that their rhetoric on anti-vaxxers is distracting the public from the real terrifying issue that has precisely driven large parts of the population into ‘anti-vaccine activism’: their own immunologic ignorance and lack of understanding of complex virus-host immunity interactions.
Immunologic ignorance combined with inflated egos has led these academics and health experts to misinterpret the evolutionary dynamics of SARS-CoV-2. The resulting misinformation spread by the mainstream media they relentlessly support(ed) has been responsible for a massive wave of Covid-19 vaccination campaigns that triggered a new, unprecedented type of pandemic: a pandemic of immune escape variants.
As per molecular epidemiologists, the continuous evolution of SARS-CoV-2 in highly C-19 vaccinated countries is alarming, and nobody has any clue as to where this will end (and those who believe that the evolutionary dynamics are now slowing down are probably unaware that the spike glycoprotein can easily shift from mutations in the peptide backbone to spectacular changes in its glycosylation profile….).
As a seasoned vaccine expert, I feel ashamed of all the damage these ‘experts’ have caused to the vaccine field. It’s past time we abandon these established institutions. They are corrupted by conflicts of interest and are not even capable of analyzing, let alone solving, complex health and societal problems. Portfolio Manager Claims Deaths from Covid Vaccine are Underestimated
Edward Dowd is a former managing director, portfolio equity manager at BlackRock Capital, a founding member of Phinance Technologies and calls himself a “numbers cruncher”. He’s been interviewed by TrialSite News and currently has a book out called “Cause Unknown, The Epidemic of Sudden Deaths in 2021 & 2022.” Interviewed by TrialSite last year, Dowd claimed the Food and Drug Administrator (FDA) should never have approved Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, revealed alarming mortality data and explained how investors on Wall Street could be the key to turning things around.
Subsequently, Dowd has pointed out how Pfizer has benefited from the pandemic. "Here's a statistic that everyone needs to know. It took decades and decades for Pfizer to get to $40 billion in revenues, before Covid. After Covid, in one year, $90 Billion...From when it was founded to right before Covid, it took decades to get to 40 plus billion. I did some back of the envelope math in 2021, you have to go back to when we were at the fever pitch of terror and fear. If you remember correctly, they were talking about quarterly boosters, with vaccine passports, you have to get your papers checked. This is back in 21, so I did some back of the envelope math, if this had occurred and Pfizer got half of the global share of the vaccine, and I assumed 5 billion people, 2 billion not abstained, and I looked at what they were charging for the vaccine. Quarterly boosters that would have gotten them $390 billion in revenue. That is what they wanted to take, and that would've been bigger than Apple's revenue stream."
Crunching numbers and estimating death
In September of last year, Dowd published a paper using his knowledge as a “numbers cruncher” to estimate the actual number of deaths caused by the COVID-19 vaccine. “In this study we analyze the dangers and pitfalls of using the standard measures for excess deaths and how they can lead to misguided policy decisions. In addition, we propose an alternative way of computing excess deaths based upon computing excess death rates instead of excess deaths. Consequently, using the death rate in 2019 (method 2A) as a baseline to estimate excess death rates in 2020 to 2022 will tend to be a lower limit on excess deaths. A more realistic assessment is to compute excess death rates in 2020 to 2022 relative to a baseline that adjusts 2019 death rates for average yearly rates of improvement in death rates (method 2B), or use a baseline that is the continuation of a previous trend in excess deaths (method 2C).”
These are all estimates by Mr. Dowd. Whether or not his numbers are correct can certainly be debated. Dowd has participated as an “expert panelist” on COVID-19 vaccines with Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and presented data from 2021, showing a jump in excess mortality among young and middle-aged adults beginning when COVID-19 vaccines were authorized.

There is no question that Pfizer has profited, and then some, from Covid and has labeled their efforts to combat the pandemic a “’billion-dollar franchise”. Of course, the magnitude of revenues defines most of our realities.
On the other hand the Covid crisis has provided ample opportunity for companies and individuals to make money. A general rule of thumb for authors is to push their book whenever possible. Mr. Dowd has already demonstrated his financial acumen as a financial advisor. Perhaps, he’s trying to match his book sales with his success in finance.

Proponents of COVID-19 mass vaccination will admit the products are not perfect yet claim they saved “millions of lives.” Major therapeutic claims such as mortality reduction with a single novel product can only be made on the basis of large, prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized trials with proper primary endpoints. Non-randomized studies have threats to validity that cannot be overcome.
Fung et al in a recent paper just scratch the surface in addressing this complex issue. They point out that background infection rates and cross-overs from unvaccinated to vaccinated early in the campaign were sources of bias that led to inflated vaccine efficacy.

Abstract
Despite Japan’s high vaccination coverage, daily numbers of new COVID-19 cases have been high. However, studies on the seroprevalence among Japanese people and the causative factors for rapid spread have remained limited. In this study, we aimed to examine the seroprevalence and associated factors in healthcare workers (HCWs) of a medical center in Tokyo using blood samples drawn at annual check-ups from 2020 to 2022. We found that of the 3,788 HCWs in 2022 (by mid-June), 669 were seropositive for N-specific antibodies (tested by Roche Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV-2 assay); the seroprevalence surged from 0.3% in 2020 and 1.6% in 2021 to 17.7% in 2022. Notably, our study found 325 (48.6%; 325/669) cases were infected without awareness. Among those with a previously PCR-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection during the past three years, 79.0% (282/357) were found after January 2022, after the Omicron variant was first detected in Tokyo at the end of 2021. This study indicates the fast spread of the SARS-CoV-2 among HCWs during the Omicron surge in Japan. The high percentage of infection without awareness may be a key driving factor causing rapid person-to-person transmission, as shown in this medical center with high vaccination coverage and strict infection control measures.

My remarks:
Thank you. I am a PhD with a background in experimental pathology, pharmacy and pharmacology. I led a research program at Johnson and Johnson where my duties included pharmacovigilance. I focus on fibrosis and pain, running my own company since 1996. I joined Dr. McCullough on Senator Johnson’s panel.
These expedited and still experimental vaccines are the most complicated medical products ever deployed. Sequences remain undisclosed and questions about the persistence of mRNA and spike have been evaded despite reports that they linger many months.
The Moderna, and likely Pfizer bivalents elicit up to four distinct spike proteins, including two novel heterotrimers with likely new toxicology.
Despite meeting FDAs biologic definition of gene therapy products, these vaccines are excluded from the gene therapy guidance, with no public comment from FDAs gene therapy infectious disease vaccine labs. Concerns for autoimmune, neurological, hematological and other diseases must remain on the table. We see cancer signals.
VAERS is underreported (1), up to 14 times for myocarditis. FDA have ignored their own estimates for underreporting up to 36 times (2) when dismissing the now three fold excess of death reports for covid vaccines over all other vaccines for all years.
I will provide our 17 submissions to FDA and CDC. PRR signal analysis is useful but limited. Using vaccination coverage, we found more accurate age stratified normalized event ratios up to 7 for GBS, 34 for serous events, 370 for coagulopathies, 98 for deaths and 403 for myocardial infarction.

Kwan (4) found elevations in POTS and other diagnoses. FDA’s Harpaz (5) despite finding masking also hinted at signals for events on your list.
In their recent discussion of ischemic stroke, CDC and FDA claimed that they found a transient signal in VSD and nowhere else. And yet, in CDC’s own FOIA disclosure appeared significant PRR signals for ischemic stroke in VAERS form last July. We obtained a similar result from an online PRR calculator funded by NIH. (6)
Most concerning are data, including CDCs’, showing negative vaccine efficacy, indicating immune suppression. A Cleveland clinic study (7) recently remarked that theirs was not the only one to find “a possible association with more prior vaccine doses and higher risk of COVID-19.
We have found from European data, correlations between vaccination coverage and all cause mortality. There is a time dependency critical to understand the effect of these vaccines with mostly periods of detrimental associations, punctuated by briefer periods of benefit.
Your work must be open to scientific dialog that is not just “going through the motions” we have seen with FDA and CDC. I welcome your further interaction.
Hundreds of French Citizens Suffer Cardiac Events after Bivalent Boosters
30 Day Regulatory Window Captures Heart Attacks, Strokes, and Blood Clots
I have served on or chaired two dozen data safety monitoring boards for randomized trials of novel experimental drugs or devices. I can tell you first hand that for COVID-19 vaccines, a 30 day regulatory window after injection is fair game for attribution of health events to the product when the adverse events of interest are known to be caused by the mRNA induced Wuhan Spike protein.
Jabagi et al, NEJM, reported from the French National Health Data System linked to the national COVID-19 vaccination database disclosing cardiovascular events after mRNA BA4/BA5 bivalent boosters. All persons who were 50 years of age or older and who had received a booster dose between October 6 and November 9, 2022, were included in the study. The composite of ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, myocardial infarction, or pulmonary occurred in 335 unfortunate individuals. The authors make the mistake of dividing by the cases by the entire number vaccinated and comparing rates to monovalent boosters. Neither of these operations are valid since there is incomplete capture of events and comparison was not made to a placebo or control group
Italian Physician Suspended for Two Months for Raising Questions About Surge in Sudden Deaths
An Italian news media reports that with sudden deaths on the rise, a physician calling for more autopsies finds himself suspended for two months. The doctor raised alarm given the rise in myocardial infarction and the need for more autopsies to investigate the cause.
Dr. Valerio Petterle, a 63-year old doctor told the newspaper La Verità after speaking of “adverse effects” associated with the COVID-19 vaccinated, he found himself suspended without pay for both this coming April and May. Considering using his lawyer to appeal, the doctor asks, “What are the offending statements?
Apparently, sudden deaths are on the rise in Italy since the COVID-19 pandemic and mass vaccination response. With the apparent surge in sudden adult death syndrome, or “SADs,” Dr. Petterle’s suggestions to La Verita apparently were deemed unacceptable misinformation.
The doctor pointed out that of the middle-aged people dropping dead suddenly, one of two (50%) were perfectly healthy at the time. However, autopsy findings of damage to the pineal gland, a tiny endocrine gland in the middle of the brain that helps the human body regulate the circadian rhythm by secreting melatonin, suggests the immune system becomes impaired.
Dr. Petterle expressed concern to the Italian newspaper about a rise in deaths associated with myocardial infarction and the need for more autopsies to investigate cause.
Peer-Reviewed Study—Over Quarter-of-a-Million Americans May Have Died from COVID-19 Vaccines
In “The role of social circle COVID-19 illness and vaccination experiences in COVID-19 vaccination decisions: an online survey of the United States population, Mark Skidmore, Ph.D. in the Department of Economics at Michigan State University conducted an online survey centering on COVID-19 health experiences associated with “reasons for and against COVID-19 inoculations, experiences with COVID-19 illness and COVID-19 inoculations” targeting both respondents and their social circles. Applying logit regression analyses with aim on a better understanding of factors influencing vaccination, the academic concluded that “knowing someone who reported serious health issues either from COVID-19 or from COVID-19 vaccination” remain important factors for vaccination decision. A striking finding came out of this survey, however—“the large difference in the possible number of fatalities due to COVID-19 vaccination” along with government data thus needs further investigation. 22% of respondents indicated that they knew of someone who went through a “severe health problem” due to the COVID-19 vaccine. The economist extrapolates that based on this data as many as 278,000 people may have died from the COVID-19 vaccines across America.
Published in BMC Infectious Diseases, Skidmore, an expert in state and local public finance, urban and regional economics and natural disaster economics, found that at a total number of 2840 participants completing the survey between December 18 and 23, 2021 he reports 1383 were female representing 51% with a mean age of 47 (95% CI 46.36–47.64) years.
It turns out that respondents who knew someone that experienced a health problem from COVID-19 that were likely to be vaccinated (OR: 1.309, 95% CI 1.094–1.566) while persons who knew someone who experienced a health problem following vaccination were less likely to be vaccinated (OR: 0.567, 95% CI 0.461–0.698).
Disturbingly “22% (612 of 2840) of respondents indicated that they knew at least one person who had experienced a severe health problem following COVID-19 vaccination.“
The Michigan State University academic researchers introduces a shocking potential reality:
“the total number of fatalities due to COVID-19 inoculation may be as high as 278,000 (95% CI 217,330–332,608) when fatalities that may have occurred regardless of inoculation are removed.”

Study Limitations
This study had three primary limitations reports Skidmore including (1) The sample of 2840 respondents is small; (2) reported COVID-19 illnesses and COVID-19 vaccine adverse events are not diagnosed in a clinical setting; and (3) health survey responses are biased. He cites as an example limitation with using a survey to collect COVID-19 health information, particularly for a politicized health issue.
For example, Skidmore reminds the survey respondents may often interpret events with bias due to perceptions based on history, beliefs, culture and family background. This study likely includes significant bias in the sense that each subgroup (vaccinated and unvaccinated) has an incentive to validate personal health decisions.
According to some chatter online the paper has caused a stir and may be retracted.
