Albert Bourla brought in a lot of dough for Pfizer over the past couple years, and apparently, the Chief Executive Officer crossed a line in what was called out by a British pharmaceutical ethical and moral practices regulator. That’s the case, according to UsForThem, a parent-led campaign in England that was organized to help protect children from the effects of the pandemic. According to recent accounts, the group submitted a complaint about Bourla’s improper attempts to monetize the school children of Britain to the Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority (PMCPA), a pharmaceutical self-regulatory watchdog group. This action stemmed from a December 2, 2021, BBC interview when, according to UsForThem, he engaged in what was described as “disgracefully misleading” behavior based on his relentless peddling of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine known as BNT162b2 to all societal segments. Pursuing full market capture, or so goes the sentiment, the Pfizer CEO promoted the vaccine for young children before they were authorized for use by that age cohort.
Just days ago, initially reported on by The Telegraph, what did Bourla do that was “extremely promotional in nature?” His positioning on the interview was done prior to the review of COVID-19 vaccine data by regulators and public health officials in England. Bourla told the BBC:
“There is no doubt in my mind that the benefits, completely, are in favor of” vaccinating youngsters aged five to 11 against COVID-19. He further positioned the situation by declaring, “COVID in schools is thriving” warning, “This is disturbing, significantly, the educational system, and there are kids that will have severe symptoms.”
But how much risk did young children face in the UK? It’s been revealed that while hospitalizations with Omicron and young children (at least in America) spiked, the incidence of morbidity is exceedingly rare and mortality probability is very low.
But COVID-19 lockdowns most certainly disrupted schools. As has been seen, however, a combination of vaccine durability challenges and a mutating virus introduce significant challenges with the current vaccines. They require ongoing boosters with frankly, no end in sight---an annual shot appears to be the direction.
According to UsForThem on Bourla’s remarks:
“There is simply no evidence that healthy school children in the UK are at significant risk from the SARS-CoV-2 virus and to imply that they are is disgracefully misleading.”
TrialSite reported in September 2021 that the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunizaiton (JCVI) were advising against the mass vaccination scheme for children from the age cohort 12 to 15 based on the interpretation that the “margin of benefit” was “considered too small.”
This media reported on other groups right at the same time issuing statements about their concerns—that governmental health authorities needed to slow down on the push for childhood COVID-19 vaccination.
However, ministers pushed ahead anyway…under the premise that the jab would help keep schools open. Five months later, the JCVI came around to recommending COVID-19 vaccines for children in the age 5 to 11 cohort, however, the ministers wouldn’t mandate that edict, making it a recommendation.
Pfizer Breaches code of practice
As can be reviewed, the PMCPA has issued a declaration that Pfizer, in fact, breached their professional code determining that the American pharmaceutical company CEO not only misled the public via unsubstantiated claims, but also couldn’t maintain an objective and professional executive demeanor keeping to the facts in a balanced manner. Additionally, they were slapped by regulators for bringing “discredit” to the pharmaceutical industry while encouraging irrational use of the vaccine while failing to maintain the highest standards.

Appeal & Final Decision
Not surprisingly Pfizer went on the attack, appealing the action by declaring that Bourla’s interview comments were only aligned with “up-to-date scientific evidence,” verifiable via “publicly available independent benefit-risk assessments.”
While upholding the decision that Pfizer not only misled the public by delivering unsubstantiated claims as well as couldn’t maintain an objective and professional executive demeanor keeping to the facts in a balanced manner, the PMCPA overturned the allegations that the company brought discredit to the pharma industry, encouraged irrational use of the vaccine, and failed to maintain the highest of standards.
According to The Telegraph report in the UK, Pfizer’s spokesperson went on the record that first, they were “pleased the UK’s PMCPA Appeal Board found Pfizer to have maintained high standards and upheld confidence in our industry which happened to be the two most serious rulings.”
The company continued:
“Throughout the pandemic, our communications have been focused on providing clarity regarding the progress of our science and supporting transparent scientific exchange in the interests of public health.”
