The work on Hydrotalcites - which are basically synthetic minerals - is of increasing interest to LENR researchers. This paper has been posted before, but perhaps it is time to look again at the Vegatec / CHME work.

Abstract
We have developed new kinds of materials made of nanoparticles of nickel-based alloys that show production of anomalous heat in an atmosphere of hydrogen. These materials are produced starting from hydrotalcite acting as precursors of nickel and nickel alloys supported on an amorphous alumina phase. The experiments are performed in a custom-made heat-flow calorimeter having a precision of +/−100 mW from room temperature up to 950◦C. This report shows that excess heat is produced when hydrogen is introduced into the reaction cell, however more excess heat is measured when the hydrogen is pumped out.
