Yes, I think it is. Shame that Samarium is difficult to plate without exotic electrolyes, I would like to try a Samarium plated brass working electrode.

I do not think the name "bomb calorimeter" was due to the physical appearance of the enclosure. I think it is because they tend to explode. They are, in fact, bombs.
Yes, you are quite right. I used to use one for testing the calorific value of powdered coal samples. That particular bomb test involved putting 25 grams of coal dust inside, clamping the lid on and then topping it up with 4 bar of pure oxygen before pressing the igniter button. The temperature rise (and the internal pressure rise) was pretty spectacular. It was linked to an old-style chart recorder so I used to hit the button and go for a smoke in the car park.

Not much timefor coffee at the minute, as we are ripping the lab apart to install some new processing and analytical equipment. Hopefully XRF (if it works) plus a lot of other analytical and processing chemistry gear. Problem is it is so full of stuff already! That means a clearout is also underway. Running a lab like mine is a bit like running a fill a la carte restaurant, the chef never knows what he needs until a customer demands it.

He used external heating in some early tests, but all of the highly successful tests were with internal heating. It may be that all the published results are with internal heating; I don't recall.
Sorry Jed, I was just thinking of the current tech using Ni mesh. As you say earlier iterations did use in at least one case external heat.

Please see my previous post about the adaptation of adiabatic calorimetry concept we use. The walls are not temperature controlled. It's basically an insulated convection oven with an internal mixing fan and multiple TC for temperature monitoring. Calibrations are easy. Set the power input, and wait for a new equilibrium temperature to be reached. You can place anything you want into the calorimeter and the only change is the time to reach equilibrium. The final temperature doesn't change.
All Mizuno's published tests used internal heating, and there was a suggestion at one time that heat radiated from the internal heater out to the meshes and then exiting through the walls of the reactor was an important factor.
Reading your post above, have you now given up on internal heaters and switched over to external heat from your convection oven?

Russians can still use the cards not any restrictions inside Russia.
That is because in most cases the fund are drawn on Russian banks inside Russia. The Russians have their own card-payment system (Meti) that only works inside Russia if it cannot interface with the rest of the banking system.

Thanks to jean-paul biberian 2 new companies claiming fusion reactors have come to my attention.
They are possibly/probably hot fusion outfits - but study may reveal more. Kyotofusioneering seems fairly substantial - 35 staff in Japan and 5 in the UK in Madenhead- also home to UK fusion reserachers.

Well, do you? -

This is great news from BLP, but I agree with Wyttenbach that molten Ag would be a better choice! Trouble is Ag is far more expensive for our limited budgets so Sn will have to do!
I think the problem with Ag is that is blackens the optical windows very quickly. It might be more effective, but not without problems.

Surely we still have 'freedom of speech' according to the British Model of Democracy?
We do, so long as nobody rich and powerful objects, the UK courts have become a playground for libel lawyers. We have a lot of rights, but they are undefined except by legal precedent, as we have no written constitution

But if you have a book, I will try to translate it..
You really would be better off translating the E-Book instead of a print copy. You can convert it to a text file and use a software translator. BUT I will look in the book for any info about nodules and scan the pages to send you.

Now, on other topic, has anyone heard or been in contact with can ? He hasn’t logged in for a good while and I fear he might have had some health issue.
Yes, and no email either. We are concerned.

Of course they are indirectly bribed by Pfizer....
Is that when they put cash into your back pocket instead of into your bank?
Actually you should be very careful about such statements. None of us want to be slapped with a libel suit over what is in legal terms an unproven allegation.made by a member.

The US Army has always been an observer of cold fusion experiments, but it has been the USN and to a lesser extent the USAF who have released documents. The following for example talks a lot about Rossi and Defkalion, but even in the references does not mention any work done by the army.

ResearchGate dealt a blow in lawsuit
Neither side has emerged as the clear winner of a court case in which two major academic publishers sued ResearchGate for hosting 50 of their copyrighted papers. The court in Germany ruled that ResearchGate is responsible for copyright-infringing content uploaded to its platform by authors. But the court rejected the publishers’ request to be paid damages, and the direct implications for any article other than the 50 named in the lawsuit are unclear. The ruling is “far from a blocking order”, says legal scholar Guido Westkamp. “In principle, any other content is subject to a new lawsuit.” Both sides say they will appeal.

I have an old copy of this -in English. No translation exists that I know of. If you would like it I will post it to you.
But this might be better and cheaper - if you convert the file you can use google translate on the digital text.
