@Ascoli: no doubt that Rossi is famous... or at least infamous. However, if he is the most successful LENR researcher, then I would encourage the proprietors of this site to close up shop ASAP.

I was going to point out how ironic your post is with regard to assuming what another person thinks, but I know it would be lost on you. Please do continue your crusade. It is quite entertaining for us all.

Nobody on earth would spend endless amounts of time and energy vehemently defending something they think has only slight chance of being true. Like many other Rossi fans throughout the years, you pretend to be “open minded” and just “waiting to see what happens” when it is obvious to everyone who reads your posts that you are utterly convinced that Rossi has the goods and has leapfrogged the efforts of hundreds of researchers who have sought a miracle energy device for decades. Why don’t you just man up and admit it? Frankly, it would improve your reputation here.

@AA: Ok, I have done you a grave injustice. I said you were only 10% confident that Rossi has something whereas your exact words were:
"I think there is better than a one in ten chance he has something. That should tell you where I stand."
So let me rewrite my post to Shane:
AA claims to be only something greater than 10% confident that Rossi has something. Imagine how he would be if he was nearly certain.
Better?

@Shane: AA claims to only be 10% confident that Rossi has something. Imagine how he would be if he was nearly certain!

I think people are entitled to their delusions however ridiculous they are as long as they harm no one but themselves.

No consulting fees forthcoming, Adrian. I’m sure it would take you months to dream up a scenario in which you abandoned your “10%” faith in Rossi. One can only try to imagine how vehemently you must defend things you strongly believe in. Must be terrifying!
-
Adrian, you always say that you are not certain about Rossi but that you are just highly inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. Fair enough. Are you willing to answer the simple question: are there any circumstances under which you would conclude that Rossi has nothing of value and never has? (And answering “proof that the e-cat does not work” is not an acceptable answer. One can NEVER prove that something does not exist.)

“Positive results are published in some journal or newspaper”
Journal of Nuclear Physics? National Enquirer?

“Rossi appears stronger than ever”
Like I said, this sort of mental aberration keeps me coming back for more. I would love to hear the rationale for that astounding claim.
-
@Bob, for years I have asked Rossi-addicts what it would take to change their mind about their hero. I have never gotten an answer. That is because there is nothing that will change their minds. They will believe Rossi is the misunderstood genius inventor until their dying day. That remarkable mental aberration is what has kept me glued to this saga for 7 years.

All of Adrian's arguments make perfect sense under the assumption that Rossi is truthful and trustworthy. He accepts what Rossi claims as gospel without a shred of evidence, and rejects any criticism of Rossi's claims as being unproven. Given that jaw dropping world view, arguing with the man is a total waste of time. I hope at least that people enjoy doing it.

The tired refrain that skeptics will only be convinced when a product on the market is ridiculous. A truly independent and transparent test by a major laboratory (and there are plenty to choose from) will do the trick. But this never happens for excuses like IP, NDAs, secret business deals, anti-LENR prejudice, and other lame nonsense. Then there is the excuse that the effect is not yet controllable or predictable so that the inventor cannot simply hand the device over to a third party with much chance of it actually working. Yet they claim they are in the process of commercializing it? Common sense says that if there is something real going on, it is a long, long way from having any impact on the world.
-
“should Rossi actually start production. Evidence continues to mount that he will.“
What evidence is that? I am sure we are all eager to hear it.
-
Shane, in bygone years we used to try to dissuade you of your beliefs about Rossi to little avail. It was quite frustrating. Now you are experiencing the same frustration in arguing with Adrian. Perhaps some day he will also find enlightenment as you have. But it will not be a result of anything anyone says here. He will have to discover it for himself.
-
Judging by the past 7 years of deja vu, the chances of the Rossi saga being settled any time soon are somewhere between infinitesimal and nil.

Bernie Madoff was going strong until 70. Then he got caught.

Why wouldn't Rossi keep plodding along? He has taken in millions of dollars. Is there any evidence that he has spent much of it on his "research"? Has anyone seen any laboratories, factories, robots, employees, etc.? Yes, he rented a strip-mall space in Florida for a while, but that doesn't exactly chew up millions. Did the Stockholm demo look like the result of millions of dollars of investment? I think Rossi is doing much better than plodding along. He is having a high-old time living on other people's money and inexplicably retaining a loyal bunch of internet fans.

These arguments about who is the bad guy in Rossi vs. Darden et al tiptoe around the 800 lb gorilla in the room -- no, make that the only ape in the room. If the e-cat doesn't, won't and never did actually produce more energy than it takes to "operate" it, then Rossi is the bad guy. Clearly, the only people who take his side are those who still think the thing actually works. Why anyone does is one of the great mysteries.

Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result. This would be highly applicable to believing Rossi's latest claim other than the fact that Einstein didn't actually say this. But it's a good thought.
