Forum intermittently slow today - repeated time-outs.

  • Shane D.

Yes, very bad today. Can not get a post through. Have to get Barty on this. Seems to be bad same time period every day.

  • bang99

    ACK!

  • Alan Smith

Apologies to all those experiencing slow upload/download rates with our forum over the last few days. Bart is 'checking it out'.

  • bang99

    THX!

  • barty

This is the downside of using a VPS, which is simply a virtual machine running in parallel with other virtual machines on one physical machine

  • barty

looks like one of those other machines is consuming very much ressources at some times

  • PhysicsForDummies

The real problem is the bandwidth consumed by Rossi's servers in Miami Beach, which control the worldwide e-cat installations.

  • barty

    lol, good one PhysicsForDummies

  • barty

    :P

  • PhysicsForDummies

Thanks barty. I like to keep humor in the equation

  • Shane D.

barty The forum is still very slow, with some timeouts, making it difficult to navigate. Is there anything we can do to fix?

  • barty

yes, I'm ordering another server and will move it

  • Alan Smith

    good news!

  • Alan Smith

Much much better today - have you migrated the system?

  • bang99

    Really running smooth now!

  • gerold.s

    Ja, LF Forum flutscht!

  • Shane D.

Been quiet today. So much going on, there must be some opinions...yet crickets. Why?

  • Shane D.

While the forum has been quiet today, LENR land has not. There is a disruption in the force. Sad really. No wonder the field has been stagnant.

  • Shane D.

Look in the mirror, and you shall see where the problem lies. The science is solid, but the personalities are flawed and conflicted.

  • Shane D.

Forum running slow again, so be patient.

  • Director

The field is stagnant because of secrecy.

  • Director

That's the number one issue that's prevent progress.

  • Director

The second, of course, is funding and labor for experimentation.

  • Director

Secrecy is the #1 problem keeping human civlilization from improving.

  • JedRothwell

The problems caused by secrecy in technology are supposed to be solved with the patent system.

  • JedRothwell

Unfortunately, patents have not been granted for cold fusion, so the system is not working.

  • JedRothwell

The purpose of patents is spelled out in the U.S. Constitution: patents and copyrights are "to promote the progress of science and useful arts . . ."

  • JedRothwell

Not to make inventors rich. That's not the purpose. When people patent an important technology and then refuse to manufacture it, the government

  • JedRothwell

forces them to manufacture or license, because of explicit intent of the Constitution. Not manufacturing would not "promote progress."

  • leDahu

Atom ecology thread : Access denied. Any reason ?

  • Shane D.

leDahu Sorry, legal threat forced us to disable. For now, A-E and it's owner, is taboo to discuss unless made public elsewhere. Weighing options.

  • Director

    HOLY COW!!!!

  • RobertBryant

    Ecology is busy at atom-ecology.russgeorge.net

  • rubycarat

Can i say how much I love LENR-forum?

  • rubycarat

I'm waiting for breakthrough, and waiting and waiting, and some people have waited 30 years

  • RobertBryant

armenian proverb :lamb is in spring ..snow is in winter .. maybe by autumn in assisi?

  • rubycarat

It's happening now, somewhere. And the power is increasing. There is hope.

  • rubycarat

Heck-Melvin Miles had cold fusion in kitchen back in Ridgecrest!

  • rubycarat

Cold fusion will change our mental imprint and we will be different people.

  • Alan Smith

    Thats what I hope too.

  • nickec

When all costs nothing, will some still want more than others? Will we let them have it?

  • nickec

I wonder what query might clarifty whether pointless avarice always expresses in the human genome?

  • Zeus46

The US doesn’t have much in the way of privacy laws

  • Zeus46

The UK does, but there’s several hurdles for the plaintiff to jump over

  • Alan Smith

Well, it's not going to happen. Problem lies outside of the forum but we have no wish to make it worse. Bur all is well in the lab.
