Scientists: 'Cold fusion is real "
Cold fusion - a revolutionary energy source that was discovered 25 years ago, but soon was printed in the dock - is making a comeback.
In a series of 34 scientific articles published in the journal Current Science, say nuclear scientists from countries like India, the US, China, Japan and France that cold fusion is real and must be taken seriously.
With studies like the people behind the magazine bring the scientific community informed of the latest findings in the field of cold fusion or LENR ([lexicon]Low Energy Nuclear Reactions[/lexicon]).
"Criticism was premature and harmful"
"The phenomenon is real and has the potential to be applied in practice in the near future," said Mahadeva Srinivasan, a retired physicist from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai.
In nuclear fusion melting the nuclei of different atoms together. When atoms of light elements such as hydrogen fuse together, it is hereby somewhat of the mass is converted into energy.
In 1989 shared electron chemists Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons the world announced that they had achieved fusion at room temperature. This news was conceived as a sensation, both in the international press and in the world of science.
Within six weeks of the finds of the two were brought down to a meeting. From that point it was more or less considered proven that this type of fusion is not possible. This criticism of cold fusion "was premature and harmful," Michael McKubre of SRI International in California suggests in his report.
"There is more than enough evidence that cold fusion does indeed occur," said A. Meulenberg of the Science for Humanity Trust in the US "We have direct evidence that the effect is real," added Abdul Rahman Lomax to the Infusion Institute in Massachusetts.
"This discovery is too important to be ignored," Srinivasan said. "Research on LENR deserves the support of government agencies, scientific academies and the private sector."
He said the Italian Andrea Rossi has already invented a working LENR reactor and working with two companies to bring to market a model for 2020. The so-called E-Cat does not produce radioactive waste and there is no radiation at free.
According to Srinivasan is the traditional nuclear reactors no place in the future."The lack of neutron and gamma radiation by cold fusion, it is a clean form of nuclear energy."
