The idea that after a relatively long (by modern standards) period of stagnation we will get a spurt in growth is a very reasonable one. If the Roulette ball falls on red 10X in a row, it is worth betting on black next time - even if there is no greater mathematical probability of that being a winning bet (it is also known as a 'sucker's bet).
However, for me the key question is 'growth at what cost - and growth for which part of society'?'. AI carries the promise of mass unemployment with it- perhaps 1/3 of the workforce will be displaced by smart systems. So growth may not be good for them.. Bitcoin and block-chain can create a non-fiat un-trackable and essentially un-taxable system of moving wealth around the world. To whose benefit? Certainly this wealth will not feed the poor or heal the sick- unless they are the very wealthy sick.
There is an old chinese curse 'may you live in interesting times' - and another European one - 'be careful what you wish for, you might just get it'. Both may apply here.

Many thanks ShaneD...- I missed that detail. Reason I ask is that one of my long-term friends lives just a few hundred yards from the Omaha Vets Hospital, and also has the highest level of medical cover they offer in the veterans program.

I have never heard anyone described as believing in superconductivity or piezoelectricity or the Hall Effect or the Seebeck Effect or any other physical phenomenon. Why does one have to “believe” in LENR?
Simply because some people don't believe it. Just logical to describe it that way. ETA -it occurs to me that subsets of QM and QED both have different belief groups.

I see in this experiment where they "preheated" the reactant with 50W for 10 hours. I need more information on that. Why is that energy not added as input energy or am I missing something?
Why not go the whole hog and add in the energy required to produce the reactor and all it's ingredients. Energy input to ingredients before the actual experiment is meaningless. As for your comment below:-
If the replication attempt is performed by a group not currently involved in LENR it might be worth review.
This is (as Jed pointed out) a logical absurdity. Modifying the words used a little does not help much with that. And as for 'your review' pray tell us what value it has to anybody other than yourself? Since, as your screen-name suggests, you don't believe in LENR anyway.

I am pretty sure that this work of Mizuno's will be replicated in 2018 btw, negotiations (nothing to do with me) are underway. That will be very helpful.

I've read Shoulders work almost two years ago. His experiments areoutstanding his explanations just the inverse.
He was an experimenter, not a theoretician - never attended college. But Feinemann who initialy dismissed him as a 'nutcase' changed his mind about that, and KS was nominated for a Nobel. Sp not too sloppy.
-
I notice comments elsewhere that Mat's Symposium is primarily for Rossi's benefit. Since there is no suggestion that he is even attending, it should be regarded as having a more general focus.

Anyway, that's enough criticising Axil. He's a PITA at times, but he is head keeper of the particle zoo, and as such is a valued contributor of infrequent insights.
-
I just ran across an article that shows how exciton polaritons (AKA EVO) produce artificial gravity effects.
Axil. This has almost nothing to do with the topic of this thread. And neither does John Hutchinson's work on electrical magic (IMHO) or if it does, only by chance.

Keep an eye out at the VA Hospital for unusual activity, in Omaha, NE.
Tell me more please.

This latest paper from Mizuno, translated (I believe) by Jed Rothwell is worth another look. XS heat of the order of hundreds of watts.

Observation of Excess Heat by Activated Metal and Deuterium Gas

Abstract
Reports of heat-generating cold fusion reactions in the nickel–hydrogen system have been increasing. The reactions mainly involve
nickel with other additive elements. The authors of these reports emphasized the importance of an extremely clean system in the
electrolytic tests in which excess heat was generated. Therefore, we attempted to detect excess heat after reducing impurities to a
minimum by cleaning the electrode carefully and then fabricating nanoparticles in situ in our test system, without ever exposing
them to air. As a result, energy far exceeding input was continuously obtained. In the best results obtained thus far, the output
thermal energy is double the input electrical energy, amounting to several hundred watts. The generated thermal energy follows
an exponential temperature function. When the reactor temperature is 300◦C, the generated energy is 1 kW. An increase of the
temperature is expected to greatly increase the output energy. We have recently improved the preparation of the electrode material.
This enhanced reproducibility and increased excess heat. The new methods are described in the Appendix.

But under such a condition even a Millionelectrons would be an "invisible", small amount...
Shoulders would probably have agreed with you. However he thought the number of electrons in an EV could be as high as Avogadro's number. Which (for those not familiar) is 6.023 × 1023.

I see Jim Dunne is among the publicly announced speakers. Always good value for money if not always correct- he has been a lead investigator in the field for a long long time.
-
Hen Shoulders is very insistent on the need for sharp pointed electrodes. That way he could generate EV's with just a few hundred volts.

What most LENR reactor builders don't appreciate is the absolute requirement for self-sustain stimulation.
It's called 'heat after death'. We look for it all the time.

Yes- 'click' on the picture, and it starts to load a computer game. Very annoying.

Hi Franco.
The website you use to host your drawings is infected with 'pop-ups'. Yesterday is was advertising for a Casino, today it is 'Congratulations, you have won a free mobile phone!' I have a pretty rubbish-resistant computer and these are still getting through. I suggest you find somewhere else to host your pictures.
ps. Happy Christmas!
