Pd-electrodes can exhibit an electrochemical mechanical damage upon H2 evolution. Before electrochemistry the Pd cathode is uniform and after electrochemistry the Pd cathode is speckled because of high H flux and H2 evolution. When the solid electrolyte BZCY (ceria- and yttria-doped barium zirconate) is coated with a Pd film as electrode, the Pd film delaminates, and the ceramic grains are fractured and ejected.
The energy required to form these holes is much higher than the electrostatic energy stored in the MIM structure. It is therefore concluded that the breakdown event with its high channel temperatures triggers a second process which delivers the required energy. Since the number of breakdown spots at structures with a Pd electrode is by a factor of three to four higher than at structures with Cu electrodes it is conjectured that hydrogen explosions on the microscale are involved in the breakdown process delivering the energy for the creation of the craters.
It remains an open question if these processes are somehow related to the supposed cold fusion reported 30 years ago and recently discussed ...

CONCLUSIONS
In this paper we analysed two main articles (McCulloch 2007, 2013) describing Quantized Inertia. We found two major flaws on the derivation presented, and we propose some corections to address the found issues. Such flaws, if they do not invalidate, at least will require a major rethinking of the whole theory. In our article, we did not address the ability of Quantized Inertia to match the observational data.
We consider that speculative physics is fundamental for the constant progress of science: Quantized Inertia was often criticized because it does go against well-established principles such as the equivalence principle. We consider this should not be the criterion used to establish the validity of a theory: history teaches us that many scientific breakthroughs, encountered, in the beginning, strong resistance from the scientific community because they were against existing principles. For this reason, it is of fundamental importance that any new iteration of quantized inertia should have a stronger mathematical derivation and, eventually, a strategy for a practical experimental verification.

Plasma parameter modulation of atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge dual-frequency excitation
(1) By modulating the amplitude ratio of two excitation sources, the
averaged electron density and temperature are effectively influenced.
And there exists a significant nonlinear coupling effect during
the discharge process due to the dual-frequency interaction,
and with an appropriate application of the amplitude ratio of these
dual components, the electron density can be upraised significantly.
(2) The investigation of electric field power absorbed by electrons,
together with the conducting current density, gas voltage, and excitation
intensity, has shown that the electron density and temperature
are modulated effectively by tailoring the averaged electron
power absorbance.
(3) The temporal evolution of the total discharge current density under
different ratios of voltage amplitudes is analyzed by the FFT spectrum,
and the nonlinear coupling effect plays a key role in leading
to the spectrum variation.
(4) On the basis, an extra modulation by means of phase-shift is
explored. A tuning of the phase differences between the dual frequency
excitation sources also has a direct influence on the averaged
electron density and temperature, which enables one to
optimize plasma parameters with a large operation window.

If you throw in the "enthusiast" group science is really endangered - I would like to force the last ones to follow an undegraduate course of lab measures banning virtual particles, neutrons and neutrinos - that is to say banning any metaphysical escape in the un-measurable field of dreams. I suspect mesons and pions, too, but for other reasons. I strong suspect superwaves, heat waves and Brillouin scattering. Phonons up-conversion is borderline and too much laser-theoretician alike. I am agnostic about magnetic and spin related questions. Massive, plutonic transmutations are a joke. Not a joke and interesting a set of rare nuclear phenomena and iteractions at the mesoscale level in condensed matter, not recognized and/or appreciated from the current vulgata.
