New Gas Field in Austria

  • This is something I've not seen mentioned on normal mainstream news channels. There has been a new natural gas (geomethane) field discovered in Austria. This isn't a fracking field, it appears to be a classic "gas pocket" type.


    Pumping even more carbon into the atmosphere doesn't really sound good - although I could imagine some European governments might be quietly relieved to see a new source of gas within the EU.

  • ....in the end, only a few will benefit and a general price reduction will not reach the end consumer. OMV will cash in and the main share holder (state of Austria) will receive more dividends. Means less political pressure for a change towards renewable energy sources, unfortunatley.


    However, a nice gift though....it should only be used wisely.
