Not true at all. I should explain that I had a used Leaf but I gave it to my daughter, because of the pandemic.
The Leaf I had was a few years old with an an effective range of 90 miles. It is a small car. The cost was around $30,000 new, after a tax break, and they were selling like hotcakes in Atlanta. They were everywhere! Tens of thousands of them, I believe. The tax break was rescinded and sales fell somewhat. But if you could buy something like that for $18,000 without a tax break, which is the cost of Yaris or other small car the size of a Leaf, they would sell millions of them in urban areas. Hundreds of thousands in greater Atlanta. The 90 mile range was never an issue. Other people I know who have one have never had a range problem. If you go far, there are charging stations everywhere, and there is a GPS in the car that shows you where they are.
If you need to drive hundreds of miles, you rent an ICE car.
The ones in China are smaller than most U.S. cars. They are the same size as Japanese subcompact cars, which are everywhere in Japan. I was riding in one years ago. When the driver parked, one wheel fell off the road into a steep gutter. Three of us got out, picked up the car, and put it back on the road.
These cars are well suited for the Asian market, and Asian roads. However, they are not really any cheaper to make or to buy than the slightly larger ones such as the Yaris, or the Geo Metro. The Nissan Leaf is the same size as a Yaris. The Chinese could probably make one the size of a Yaris and sell at a profit for $18,000 (the same cost as a cheapest U.S. ICE cars).

An average doctor knows far more about every disease than you or I know. For the same reason I know more about Japanese grammar than most doctors. Because I spent years studying it. A doctor who has worked with COVID-19 patients knows far more about that than most doctors do, and it would take years for you or I to learn what they know.
You do not realize that people know more than you do about their area of expertise. Doctors know more about drugs than you do, because they spend years learning, and passing rigorous exams. I know more about Japanese grammar than you do. Not because I am brilliant, but because I took every course Cornell offered, and I read and wrote in Japanese every day for 5 years. You think you know everything. You suffer from an extreme case of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
You are disgusting, tarring all doctors with one brush. Many of them strongly oppose the extreme profit seeking institutions of medicine, such as insurance companies. They would be thrilled to find a cheap, reliable way to treat COVID-19. I know there are many thousands of doctors like this because my daughter worked with organized groups of these doctors to lobby in favor of Obamacare. She arranged for them to lobby Congress and testify. She, and they, wrote sections of the law. They are committed to lower costs, patient advocacy, and taking power away pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies. If they had not acted, Obamacare would not have passed, and things would be much worse than they are. You can see they worked against enormous opposition, because the GOP has tried to repeal Obamacare 70 times. It it their top priority, and they came within one vote of repealing it in the Senate.
Of course there are also many doctors who oppose Obamacare. They are not a unified or uniform group of people.
