How do you know it worked?
Because of the gamma bursts and temperature rises.

Because of the gamma bursts and temperature rises.
Yes. But how do you know about the gamma bursts and temperature rises?
Did you perform the experiments personally? Is it via a personal report from the person who performed the experiments? Did you view a written account with data? Has a written account of the findings been posted somewhere?
Yes, along with Russ, we worked together. I saw the data as we collected it. I can no longer recall if a specific account was published anywhere, but possibly not. However, unless you think I'm lying it happened.

I don't think you are lying. But I think you may be mistaken.
In research it is easy to to be mistaken. You know that. That is why one is careful with procedures and equipment. That is why one repeats experiments. That is why one records and tests results in as many ways as possible. That is why one publishes results and hopes for robust expert review. And that is why one does everything possible to enable others to replicate results.
There is no account of any of Russ George's results on this score that is even close to being satisfactory. He needs to work a lot harder to convince people that he has truly accomplished even a tiny fraction of what he claims. And if you continue to act as some sort portal to George's results, as you have been doing, I think you need to work a lot harder to convince people that you have carefully evaluated all the evidence before you simply assert that something is true.

I think I can read both a thermometer and a Geiger, though I struggle with small print these days. As for your comments about Russ's work I will pass them on. And when ir comes to 'working a lot harder', don't mistake me for somebody who cares tuppence for your opinion on my credibility or my work ethic.
I think I can read both a thermometer and a Geiger,
I am sure you can, but the heat might have some prosaic source, and Geiger counters can indicate something other than what you thought. F&P made a mistake with a BF3 counter before they published their first experiment. Many cold fusion researchers have made dumb mistakes. As Bruch_H said, it is essential that you publish in detail, have others review the work, and then have them replicate it. We should never accept a result that has not passed these tests. We shouldn't reject it either.
OK. The 5-year anniversary of the announcement of George's remarkable results is coming up this year. That will be a good time to look back how things have gone and at the state of play now. It deserves its own thread.

Hear, hear!
Russ has most of the data, and he doesn't wish to.

We are not going to kick that hornet's nest again.

Probing neutrons and purported fission daughter products from gas-loaded, laser-irradiated metal-hydrogen targets
Hello Ahlfors what do you think about this https://www.idrogenoverde.it/

I'm not your target audience, but I think this is very fishy. The patents (or applications) are for a burner, they don't say anything that I could see about where the hydrogen comes from. See pdf of a WIPO version of the patent below.
They are taking orders, offering dealerships, selling shares. I say avoid.

Thanks for saying that, I am very hesitant to answer when not asked directly and I was really wanting to make a statement in agreement with yours. This looks like vaporware with distinct tones of scam.
Advanced Materials Characterization and Nuclear Product Detection for LENR by Texas Tech
https://arpa-e.energy.gov/sites/default/files/2023-09/05_Duncan_Performer.pdf
Reading between the lines, it looks like the Cat B groups (Duncan's Texas Tech team for example) provide technical analysis and assistance to the Cat A teams. Not sure if that means the 8 "Experimental Teams" are Cat A, and all "Capability Teams" are the Cat B Teams? Duncan also mentioned a PI Team.
Whatever, looks like the ARPA-E LENR project is taking shape and about to shift into high gear.
