Wow what's happening just now? Temp increased about 10C without more power?

Right now there is no control of the power, value for the Triac is unchanged while the temperature is increasing.
But the fact that it is increasing mean, that the power is raising as well. -
Temperature regulation was enabled again. So it should hold the temperature at 400°C. I will leave it until tommorow to see the pressure level and how COP will be affected.
Then I can wait for the next week (tuesday) to get brand new LiAlH4 pellets from Alfa Aesar that can take the pressure much higher. -
Thanks for trying it Me.
There should be a good arrangement to keep the power stable because if the power is constant and COP>1 then the temperature would go on rising. This will be a solid confirmation that COP>1 -
You are welcome.
Unfortunately as you can saw, higher temperature mean higher power - even it should stay at the same value. So it is not that simple when temperature is changing, because different temperature is affecting various factors.
For the heater that is outside of the core it is not that big problem when there is different temperature. -
How much LiAlH4 was there in the initial run was it also 250mg?
You mentioned that rhe LiAlH4 was of poorer quality. Was some of it already decomposed to Li3AlH6 at loading?
Could it be that the Lithium after the first run was in the form of LiAl rather than LiH and all the hydrogen from that run was outgassed. If so could this account for the lower pressure if more Li is now available to absorb the hydrogen during the current run?
-
No, it was 180mg previous time. But the pressure was constant for few days.
I think that LiAlH4 was good quality, but they are different. It is clearly visible even in the color. Alfa Aesar LiAlH4 has gray color, this one has white.
But previous time LiAlH4 was from the same manufacturer as in the current run. -
Is it possible to switch to a mode where your PID loop controls the input power using the PCE data as feedback? Or it is not currently wired up that way?
-
It could be possible, only software modification is necessary. But I think that it wouldn't be so precise as with Optris.
By the way pressure increased! So there is no sealing issue.
-
@me356: for your interest, yesterday the 1000 samples input power average for a temperature of 400°C from plot.ly was 65.1W. Today (as of a few minutes ago) it's 63.8W.
By the way, I would suggest, if possible, to increase the precision of input power readings to at least 1 decimal digit.Adding cumulative watt-hours somewhere in the live data, with the highest precision possible, would also be helpful.
-
The behavior is very interesting.
We can exclude sealing issue, because today, the pressure is noticeably higher than yesterday without any change.
The same thing happened to my previous experiment when the pressure decreased on its own.
So definitively something is happening inside even that the temperature is pretty constant. -
An interesting paper for replicators..
After this (and results from JP Biberian in a different paper posted on Peter Gluck's EGO OUT blog) I can only urge me356 to build a simple water flow calorimeter to verify that he is really observing excess heat and not something else. A group has shown that a fairly accurate one could be made with two concentric steel tubes. The relatively low temperature of this experiment should not be a problem, unlike Lugano/Parkhomov replications. -

Would ordinary black irrigation pipe wrapped in a spiral around the reactor tube work (Spaced some distance away)? Would the water flowing through the pipe cool it sufficiently or would the IR just melt the plastic?
-
Reactor is still running and is very stable, Pressure is still very slowly rising each day what is very interesting. So there is really no sealing issue.
Also we can probably exclude next reason for excess heat because of heater structure modification.I hope that I will receive some new supply this week.
I am also designing new reactor with similar design that will handle much higher temperatures and will be consisted with thicker and longer wire. So then we should get more significant excess heat. -
I have tried to measure Muon radiation and it looks like it is very same as ambient.
Around 1.6Hz right now. -
Hi me356,
Can I ask what method you use for measuring the muons?
Is it something simple that can be applied in other experiments?
Does it work for muon energies down to low MeV or keV I think I read somewhere if a stationary Pion (136 MeV) decays to a Muon (106MeV), due to conservation of momentum the muon kinetic energy should be about 4 MeV with remaining 26 MeV taken up by the neutrino. Even if all the change in mass from a pion to a muon is taken up by momentum of the muon somehow it will still be about 30 MeV.
I think cosmic muons have much higher energies of though.
-
I have downloaded app for my smartphone which should be able to measure from GeV range. It seems that it really can work.
It is called Muon Flux. -
Was there a radiation spike at 200 deg C? maybe it was just the background as it was only about 48-50 but seemed to last a while.
Interestingly it seems to occur just at the point the power gets noisy with drops to 0 and at a kind of minimum in the maximum noise values.
-
Interesting.
I have attached data from the run.
