Not bad for an AI!
Regarding Al Gore and the internet, Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf said:
Al Gore was the first political leader to recognize the importance of the Internet and to promote and support its development.
No one person or even small group of persons exclusively "invented" the Internet. It is the result of many years of ongoing collaboration among
people in government and the university community. But as the two people who designed the basic architecture and the core protocols that make the
Internet work, we would like to acknowledge VP Gore's contributions as a Congressman, Senator and as Vice President. No other elected official, to
our knowledge, has made a greater contribution over a longer period of time. . . .

For some reason this whole thing keeps reminding me the victim selection criteria of the Nigerian scam conmen that JedRothwell commented on some time ago.

If you read the article that JedRothwell posted, you will notice that the so called "Nigerian scammers" mostly say they are from Nigeria as part of their strategy to search for only the extreme gullible potential victims. The "Nigerian scam" is just a label that helps them weeding out not so gullible people from the extreme gullible people.
I think that the recent SKlep video "Snafu" was a sort of move in the same direction: anyone paying attention to the "live demo" after that, has to be of extreme gullibility to keep any interest on this matter. Il dottore has finally decided to go all in after the purest true believers that may be left now.

Most of the time these great announcements are done to well maintain investors on the desk.
Quoting CNN:
A UK fusion scientist told CNN that the result of the US breakthrough is promising, but also shows more work needs to happen to make fusion able to generate electricity on a commercial scale.
“They have worked on the design and the makeup of the target and the shape of the energy pulse to get much better results,” Tony Roulstone, from the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering, told CNN.
“The opposing argument is that this result is miles away from actual energy gain required for the production of electricity. Therefore, we can say (it) is a success of the science but a long way from providing useful energy.”

For me it ended in 2014. Everything that has happened after, and even more these last days, shows that there's a reason why one does keep receiving "Nigeriam Scam" e-mails: Because some people actually do fall for it.

Get ChatGPT to do your assignments? Should academics worry about AI essays?
“It’s looking a lot like the end of essays as an assignment for education,” says law professor Lilian Edwards about ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot that creates uncannily natural text in response to homework and exam-style questions. Others are less worried, pointing out that students have long been able to outsource essays to human ghostwriters. ChatGPT text can also be readily identified by its made-up quotes and irrelevant references. Lecturers could respond by assigning work that prioritizes critical thinking — something that ChatGPT can’t yet do.

When I have taught at the local university I design my tests in a way that I even allow students to browse the web for answers. They feared my tests because they had to think for answering.
