  • Perhaps there are differing opinions on that "rock" solid part. And of course, his claims beg for replication if not amplification.

    There have been replications, a 10% excess energy is perhaps not as “impressive” as other claims, but is consistently achieved and has been reported by the MFMP in a replication, and is highly repeatable (which is what I think barty refers to as rock solid). Celani is in this for the long run and if you read his slides you can see his research line has been sistematically improving step by step the parameters. He is also very focused on the system being economic as constantan is much cheaper than Palladium.

    I certainly Hope to see LENR helping humans to blossom, and I'm here to help it happen.

Frowns on "looking for heat", as a dead end that will not break LENR out of the vicious circle it is stuck in. Some interesting Q&A follows, with Alan S offering up his observations of gammas.     I disagree. No heat means there is no cold fusion. "Heat is the principle signature of the reaction. - Fleischmann. If "nuclear-centric" means looking for neutrons, it is a dead end.

    gamma emission spectra.. such as the Essex lab has been doing and Kasagi has recommended. He recommends looking in the sub 100 kev region


    the heat is the final product low grade product.<< 1 Ev.... but the energy originates at the high end ... 22Mev.

    I do not have a dog in this race, other than wanting to get this thing figured out the fastest way possible. But if I understood him correctly, Collis believes it is lack of a theory that has LENR stuck in this circle, and the fastest way to a theory is via research geared towards learning the nuclear mechanisms. He did have a little push-back by the first questioner, so I take it there is some disagreement between the theorists, and experimenters as to what is the best way forward. If so, that is not unusual for any branch of science.

    Safire found transmutation first, and in the follow-up observed heat and transmutations. Be interesting to see which they focus on once they get their funding secured.

    Almost everywhere is a rhetorical exaggeration.

    The cool biosphere is kept fairly safe from transmutation it otherwise it might not hold together at all,

    some evidence for minor occurrence..

    - Kervran's poorly evidenced transmuted Calcium in egg shells

    - Vysotskii 's slightly better evidenced Cs137 reduction with bacteria,


    However under hot hot conditions where hydrogen is present in high concentrations

    and catalysts exist ,LENR transmutation is an alternative to the conventional explanations

    e.g.

    - In the sun heavy atoms are attributed to primordial origin in massive supernovae..distant in time and space


    -In the Earth's crust/mantle Helium-3 has always been attributed to primordial origin 5 Gigayears ago.

    The only way to a theory is to produce the reaction. No reaction means there is nothing to study.


    In the past, people have looked for nuclear mechanisms and nuclear evidence in cells that did not produce measurable excess heat. This is a waste of time. It is like fishing in a dry hole. No heat means there was no reaction, and there will be no evidence. If you think you found transmutations in such a cell, you are probably wrong. It is probably contamination. If you think you found neutrons, it is noise.


    Some people try to do cold fusion without even trying to measure heat. This is a waste of time squared. They have no idea whether the reaction even occurred -- and it probably did not. So going to the next step to look for nuclear evidence is even more futile than usual. At least, when you look for heat and you don't see it, you know there is no point to looking for other evidence. You save the time and effort it would take.


    Not measuring heat in cold fusion is equivalent to not measuring radioactivity in conventional fission. You have no clue whether anything is happening.

  • More transient excess heat results due to using too high deuterium/hydrogen gas pressures (similar to Zhang's replication attempts). Holmlid has clearly shown that pressures above one or two mBar block -muon formation and thus subsequent fusion reactions. So it looks like there is an initial burst of fusion reactions which are then blocked by the high gas pressures. They need to go down to the Mizuno reactor levels (100-300 Pa) to obtain sustained, high power excess energy release.

    The pulse shower of charged particles formed by the laser pulse gives a large voltage disturbance in all parts of the apparatus. In Fig. 3, the procedure used to subtract this voltage from the particle signal at the collector and to find the true particle signalto thecollectoris demonstrated.This disturbanceis notduetothelaser-pulse field or any pulsing from the laser equipment, as can be seen by increasing the gas pressure in the chamber. With a few mbar hydrogen gas, this disturbance decreases strongly. Thus, this voltage is due to the current pulse in the form of charged particles ejected from the target by the laser-pulse impact and by the countercurrent flowing in the chamber walls. Increased gas pressure stops the charged particles rapidly and the particle pulse does not give any strong current in the walls of the chamber. All the other signals shown in the figures are the signals after subtraction of the voltage disturbance measured simultaneously with another position of the collector pin.
